According to the little cups around it, it's Domino's.

Power JUST came back on, but the parking lot is slicker than snot, and I have hills and a bridge to negotiate.

Dear Lord, let me safely get to and from work in our car on time today...amen

I hope you got there safely! The roads in Ames this morning (8:30ish) were okay until I turned onto the last road. I was very thankful that there weren't cars on the street there. First icey slide with Z in the car. Blech. :( Thankfully it wasn't too bad.

Having your kids in the car when you slide/skid/lose control amplifies the fear factor astronomically, doesn't it? Glad you're okay. :)

I can't take much credit for the brownie recipe, it is just a mix baked in a mini muffin tin instead of a pan. :) I think I may make some later today as an alternative to birthday dessert tonight. Not all the picky people in this house appreciate the cappuccino fudge cheesecake I made for myself (I'm looking at you hubby) ;)

Any pics of that fancy cheesecake Birdy? It sounds awesome.

So, I think it was in here that I mentioned frustrations/struggles with my specific church denomination and thinking about switching. Saturday was a men's conference at our church and one of the speakers gave a talk about why be that denomination. First, he was very honest about how our denomination does some things wrong and how the structure of the church can create those, and how other denominations don't do this...and how we can/should maybe take some 'lessons' from those other denominations. Then, he gave some scripture based explanation for one of the things that we do different from all other Christian denominations (and is a major source of poking fun by people of other denominations). Both of those hit me where I was at this specific time, so I did some research and found a book on that same topic. I bought it for my kindle last night and started it.

Rev/Woo/Other advanced degree families/people...the book is a doctoral thesis...so we'll see how many words I have to look up, but I did start reading it, and it is coming together with what the speaker said and things I've noticed in scripture and wondered why they were there but didn't look deeper into.

So...summary...the good thing is that I think I'm staying in my denomination (for now)...the bad thing is that that means that if I want to change some of the things my church does a crappy job of...I'm either going to have to fight it or lead on changing them.

I am intrigued. I am glad the speaker gave more information to back up what he was saying. We have seen people write books and list Scriptural references just to list them. Sadly, I didn't realize how important it was to compare what the word actually said (in context) until I was going to Bible College. Teaching people how to study is really important.

I'm glad you've done your own research. I guess one thing to ponder is where your conviction on said topic is vs what said church does. Is it something that is like 'I don't totally agree, but I don't care'; 'I don't agree and I won't do it'; or something in the middle. :)

Well that's how change happens but you already knew that 00. Good luck on your journey.

I was reading that thread last night to unwind. I wasn't ready to be PO'd at Cyclone fans on the game thread, because an AWESOME number of fans STAYED last night at Hilton! I am imagining the OU is a "photo negative" of the ISU thread. :)

One of my new customer contacts has a last name of Bieber. No matter how hard I try, I can't take her seriously.
