Am I the only one who doesn't have a case for their smartphone? Sure I drop it from time to time, but I have never disabled a phone just by dropping it. I have an S5 now and the glass is cracked, but I can't feel it and it's unnoticeable in the right light. People always ask me why I don't have a case. I tell them I just don't need one. Having a case just makes the phone bulkier an harder to put in my pocket. Plus they are really expensive. And I have never been offered to purchase one why upgrading phones either, but I wouldn't anyway.

it pains me to even type this because it's not how i feel but i can see how people would think giving all these tax breaks to low income people is really punishing people for going to school or getting a good job or saving their money. if you are responsible and not frivolous with spending you see people "get things" for free while you don't qualify.

When I first moved to KC, I remember looking into some apartments. I was told that we made too much to stay there. We weren't making crap at the time, but I think you had to bring in less than $24,000 a year. I ended up paying $250/month more for a smaller apartment that looked pretty sketchy. What made it worse was as we drove away in my wife's Mitsubishi Colt wagon, we drove by a few Mercedes, a corvette, a nice F150, and a nice Lincoln.

Define "get things for free".

I worked full time as an asst. mngr. at a fast food restaurant. My ex was in grad school with a 1/2 time TA position. We took no welfare; we paid our bills (AND grad school tuition), we even paid the doc and the hospital in advance of our son's birth. Our income fell below the line for a family of three, so we were eligible for the EIC that year. Were we undeserving? Blanket assessments are rarely accurate.

For my S4, I have what amounts to a piece of felt-covered cardboard that I flip over the screen when not in use and tuck behind the phone when I use it. It doesn't make the phone any bigger and it protects my screen when I'm not using it. I've never used a screen protector either.

My wife got an Otter Box for hers and that thing is huge. It would never fit in my pocket. She may as well get a bag phone and be done with it.

There's a pretty distinct difference between you and others that are content abusing the system, though.

I have a feeling this could get a little cave-y, so I'll leave it there and move on.

I have to be honest with you MTown. In have no clue why you said (paraphrased) "don't have kids after being responsible and saving".

it was a joke. people were talking about having kids when they are poor because you get better tax breaks. so - have them when you're poor - not when you're rich. not really much to read into there.

I'm like your wife, hubby hates how bulky my phone is. I don't let the kids have free reign of it, but I have dropped it a few times and was thankful for the case.

Hey, my bag phone has swirly Cy embroidered on it. It was cool!!

No case, never broken a screen or phone (although, this is my first smart phone, a year or two old). I've dropped it several times, most of the time, I can aim my foot well enough that it hits my foot, then drops to the ground softly.

working out makes my teeth hurt. This is weird. Google says tooth pain can mean a sinus infection. I would prefer not, thank you.

Amen...we should go back to the good old days, when children were seen in the proper perspective...as indentured servants.

After shoveling this past weekend I let it be known that he will be out there with me someday.

Everyone told me my iPhone would shatter without a case. Never bought one. Drop it all the time, and it hasn't cracked once.

The only time I broke an iPhone was when I slammed a ping pong paddle on the ground and my phone happened to be on the ground right in that exact spot. Neat.
