When I scrolled through three responses and didn't see something inappropriate, I was beginning to get worried. Thank you two for restoring my faith in this thread.

Ring, the wedding favor is the adult equivalent of a kid having to give out goodie bags after birthday parties.
I'm not sure when these traditions were started or who started them, but those people are evil and should feel bad.

I was supposed to get a fun time with the bride and instead got Patron, a flask, and a shaving bag? What crap. That doesn't even begin to cover the cost of a plane ticket home!

I get when you have a license plate holder like mine that says Iowa State, or something you're passionate about. I don't understand why people have them with the car dealer's name on them.

I skipped working out again. I feel like a bum. DH was all "getting snot on the weights is gross, you shouldn't go to the gym." Blah blah.

Well, I think the main reason is that the dealer puts them on before giving you the key to the car?

I have a neighbor who removes the dealer logo sticker on the trunk lid/tailgate every time he brings a new car or truckhome. Said he asked them once to give him something for the advertising and they wouldn't. So off they come!

Yeah, but don't they get paper plates until the new ones come? Then they'd have to get down there to change it anyway?

I also take the sticker off mine. Never did before, but my brother (who works in a detail shop) asked why I'm advertising for them. Just takes a hair dryer pretty much and it comes right off no problem.

A large number of places are now painting them on or it is a decal.

In Iowa now they just transfer your plates from your old to the new, unless you are a first time buyer.

I wonder if I would get a decal of Fred Hoiberg on the hood if I bought a car from here

When did Fred buy that? I think that's hilarious. Surprised I've never seen one on the road.

Really disappointed that when I clicked on the "Our Staff" button Fred wasn't sitting behind a desk with a plaid blazer on in one of the photos.

I actually have an ISU one on the Ford pieceofshit, the dealer frame on our van. I typically remove all dealer stuff and I did remove the dealer sticker, but I thought the local dealer for our van were complete shysters, we went out of the area (but still easy drive) and got treated significantly better, so I leave it on as a PSA to not get effed over by our local dealer.

Just more money we have to spend.

You know that you actually don't, right?

Nicest wedding I ever attended, and it stands out to this day was held in a church at evening, candles, simple dress, nice suit, wedding party of two. Had an elegant dinner at their family's restaurant after. It was totally unique to what you get from most weddings these days.

I keep telling my daughter about it. She's eleven!

we did M&Ms (cheap) but a candy buffet would have been cool. I've seen little locally made jams, one couple did monogrammed steak knives (still use those). So it can be a neat touch but it's totally something you can skip.

Though since you are doing an ISU-ish wedding.......renting a couple ice cream machines and having Clone Cones isn't a bad idea..........no idea what they cost but one of the least expensive weddings we went to had ice cream machines there. It was glorious.

Hey, I even know a group on campus who makes ice cream

My dad buys all his cars from there, hubby's car was purchased there as well. The dealer sticker actually says Pritchard Auto, but people ask for Fred Hoiberg decals instead (his name, not him). I did notice once the vehicle Fred's wife was driving had the Fred Hoiberg dealership sticker on it.

Wait, so the favors don't have to be something they take home? (I told the fiancee these kind of details are up to her because I know little to nothing about them, but if I can come up with something, I will.) I much rather spend money on something like a candy buffet or ice cream machines than on stuff that has a good chance of being thrown away. As Die4cy said, something unique from what people get these days. I like the sound of that.

I have personalized ISU plates with an "ISU alumni" plate holder. People tell me it's too much ISU on my car.
