Ha, dude we had tv and even left the house sometimes. I would say parents could have done more to get us out but it was probably more the farm than the schooling thing. Because even when we were still in public school it's not like we did a ton then either. Interesting that you assume church was a big part of our life. I know that's common in those circles, but it wasn't for us. At least more than any normal small-town rural America family.

Good to hear. I didn't mean it in a mean way. Was just drawing off of my own experience.

Nope, and I didn't take it that way. It's a common assumption though it's been my experience that there are a lot more of us "normal" home schooled people than you would think. Because you just don't notice them. You notice the prairie dresses and never see the light of day ones.

Smoking is better then under age drinking. Something to do, and it relieves stress

someday you'll learn there are more important things in your life than getting affected by peer pressure and getting high all the time. Someday.

Why do that to relive stress? I've played video games, hung out with friends, Watched a favorite movie or read a book, or made myself cry (great way to get the stress out). I've done other things too, I just can't think of them right now.
Because it's good for that. It's not just for stress it's also fun and somewhat cheap and really easy to get.

Ughh...I think I have to take credit for some of this, Rev...I think he used to soak in the hot tub to relieve stress, but he can't, now that I've revealed what his parents do in there when he's not around.

I'm sorry, BDK, but don't choose weed as an alternative.

Although I have never done it I have a real good friend that does just to chill out. I don't care if he does it because he is smart about it. He exhale into some kind of filter (again no experience so forgive me here) which significantly cuts down on the aroma. He also hides it damn well.

What it comes down to is knowing the consequences and if you decide to risk it you are knowingly accepting those consequences if you get caught. Regardless if you think it should be legal or not.

The bigger issue here is not the pot but how they have warned him more than five times in the past for noise and he doesn't seem to care.

I just walked past a person wearing perfume that smelled so bad I almost threw up. My stomach still feels awful 20 minutes later

If anyone else is working the MTFri of the last two weeks of December: what do you do? I might bring in Z for a bit just to do it.

forgot to ask, is experience that of people you know or your own?

People I grew up with mainly. My in-laws did pull their two youngest of high school and home schooled them for various reasons. For the most part they are great kids.

I'll just chirp in that I don't smoke pot (anymore, I made choices in high school) but I fully think it should be legalized and taxed at about 35 to 40 percent.

It does less cumulative damage to your body than alcohol or tobacco. But after you get out of high school and you're still doing it, you're really toying with the "loser" look instead of cool kid look.

Just my opinion.

all charges were dropped

Only the drug charges or the noise charges too? The people in the BDJ threads are getting annoying. Too many people are either making things about about laws(like the guy that said BDJ could face 10+ years in jail) or making things up about the situation, like making it sound like a 60 person weed party including the entire basketball team. I'd rather just stay over here and not read through lies and speculation.

Realize who is saying what though. Bringmagicback was the one that said it could be up to 20 years in prison. So you take that with a grain of salt.

Looks like just the drug one, so far...

Per KCCI:

Iowa State University basketball player Bryce Dejean-Jones was arrested and charged in connection with a drug case early Thursday -- and then the main charge was later dropped.

I find it funny how the chargers were dropped but I'm not going to complain, because he goes to Iowa state.
