Random thoughts III

I'm that guy in the office today. I brought in leftover corned beef and cabbage to heat up in the microwave.

I'm thinking tomorrow I'll bring in some leftover fish for lunch. For an afternoon snack, I'm going to put some microwave popcorn in there, set the timer at 6 minutes and leave.

At previous job, someone burned popcorn in our "ancillary" breakroom. (Microwave & sink just outside of the training rooms) I had to walk through that cloud of smoke to go use the bathroom. Next morning, I'm washing my hair and think "What IS that smell?" The smoke had gotten "caught" in my hair, and wetting it was releasing the burnt popcorn smell. Not pleasant.

I have the same issue, but pleasant, after camping or manning my smoker for long periods of time.

Tuesday confessional - I thought of a few comical, but extremely tasteless and insensitive things to say regarding this gif.

Instead, I'll just imagine a photoshopped cow in place of Lisa Robin Kelly and assume that is what CG's Christmas looks like.

I'm debating whether tonight shall be a rum night or not. Need to look through a ton of house stuff so maybe I should be sober? Or maybe it's easier to decide not sober, ha. If I ever get done here. I really screwed up forgetting I had a meeting yesterday that sucked away two hours I needed.

I got 8-ish more hours to be here, I'ma need Rub Brooky to get me thru the night.

that typo gives a vastly different meaning to this sentence. :eek:

tell me about your kitchen. Things you like, don't like, colors, drawers vs. the cabinet thingies - that should give you something to do for 8 hours!

I have to say though, had a small heart attack looking at the cabinetry allowance vs. the bid and seeing we were several thousand or so over the allowance. Then realized the bid including stuff for the basement (which we aren't finishing now) most other bids and put that as an alternate. So instead of well over, we're a good bit under.

Phew. That would have been mean of them to give us an allowance that was already under what the bid was, ha.

Hah, hah, haaa....perhaps me mind is a bit twisted, Mrs. 00clone had her yoga pants on today.

:biggrin::yes:

I like our island, but it gets cluttered. I wish we had a side desk thing to capture all the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life. We have a credenza from Costco, but you have to open it, which apparently is too much work for some members of our household. I also like our entryway with a little bench and coat hooks on the wall to hang coats right when you come in and take them off, I don't like that Mrs. 00clone would rather throw her purse onna counter and her coat over the back of a kitchen chair. We have dark cabinets, I like 'em fine, but I'm pretty easygoing as long as it's not ugly. We have a double sink, which when I was a kid meant wash in one, rinse in the other, dish drainer on the counter that got put away after all the dishes were dry. When Mrs. 00clone was growing up, that meant wash in one, spray off rinse, put in dish drainer in the other sink that sat there all the time because dishes were air dried, so we constantly have this gawdy cheap plastic dish drainer in our second sink and that sink always has this haze on it because it never gets a good cleaning like the other one. I mean, we have a dishwasher, but there's still things that get hand washed.

OK, that is sounding like a "complain about Mrs. 00clone" rather than an analysis of the kitchen, but as the cook, I feel like there's so many simple things that could be done better that would make it less messy all the time...and we don't have that big of a kitchen (I mean, it's not tiny, but foodie me would love a bigger one) so everything is important. When I get home (admittedly this is the middle of the night and no kiddos), coat comes off and on the hook. Lunch box gets unpacked and put under the bench, out of the way, pocket stuff goes in one specific drawer in the credenza, phone and bluetooth speaker (old beater work car, use a bluetooth speaker for podcasts to and from work) plugged in inside the credenza as well. Nothing on the island.

if DH and I ever divorce, it'll be because I snapped and couldn't take the nasty dish drainer thing sitting on a shiny new island where everyone could see it. And using the counter to collect the dishes he refuses to put into the dishwasher because of reasons unknown, but won't wash right away. So I understand the direction your post went, lol. Clutter is what I want to avoid as well. We shall see how that goes.

What do they think of the Disney resort? I saw a show about it, how they tried to 'honor the local culture'. Wonder if they got it right, or turned it into a caricature like everything else they do.

I think they actually enjoy it. The only complaints I've heard is that they did it on the Leeward side, which is the more local side of the island and more against development on the land.
