Iowa or U.S.? We got our fed pretty quickly, nothing yet on Iowa at a much lower amount.
Fed. The only other people I heard this from were other self employed people.

Son filed 7-10 days after us and got his today.

We found an accountants mistake on one from 2020 taxes a couple months after we filed. Just got the amended refund a month ago. So this could be a year or more out even without a full audit.

Maybe a Friday topic for @Angie What do you call your in-laws. I call mine by their first name as did my parents. My FIL calls them mom and dad and that bugs me a little.
Yeah, I was the first SIL/DIL in my wife's family and I started calling them by their first names almost 30 years ago. Both SILs call them "Mom" and "Dad". I never do that but often refer to them as "Grandpa" and "Grandma" around all of the kids. I think it bothers Mrs. Velo a bit when the SILs call her folks "Mom" and "Dad." #FamilialAppropriation

Found out my blood type for the first time in my life on Friday. If anyone needs A+ blood, I’m your guy.
I'm O- so I can give you some of mine, but I can't use any of yours. And it's pronounced A positive, just sayin' :)

"As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti"

I enjoy the song but that particular verse is trying way too hard to sound majestic and profound.

Anyways, thanks for the ear worm.
Agreed, that line has never seemed to fit for me. It is like they liked the line so they crammed it in no matter the meter.

Last time I donated they said my platelet count was high so they asked me to donate platelets. I did my first one a week and a half ago. I had to cancel last week's because the in-laws came up. I am trying to make it a weekly deal since you can donate every 7 days. Apparently A+ is a prized type for platelets. I don't know the science behind that.

Well the gods seem to be...uh...strengthening...us. Washing machine was acting squirrelly and gave up the ghost just before Easter so we spent the weekend researching and looking at W/D combos. Got them delivered about a week or so ago. They were almost 13 years old so I guess it was about their time.

Then Sunday Mrs. Velo asked who left the downstairs freezer drawer open because everything was getting soft in there. Well last night we discovered that it wasn't a door problem. Refrigerator part was warming up as well. I tried cleaning all of the dust and fuzz off of the coils and pulling it out from the wall thinking (hoping, actually) that it was just an airflow issue. Nope, you can hear the compressor attempt to start (humming) but never starting. The air that is blowing out the back is cool, not warm like it should be. So we scrambled moving stuff to upstairs fridge and two small beverage fridges in the garage. What didn't fit we either threw out or put in a cooler full of ice. Looks like we will be buying a replacement downstairs refrigerator. Frozen pizzas from son's track fundraiser arrive in about a week. We are going to be eating a lot of (formerly) frozen food this week.

That coupled with finishing the deck, planning daughter's graduation party, and ramping up for college expenses has me sweating about finances. Let's just hope the cars hold together....

I like saying A+ instead of A positive because it makes my wife's eyes roll lol.
When in high school girlfriend was in a health class where they did blood type testing in class. After school I said I would like to do it even though I wasn't in the class. She was A- and I came back A+. After that I often mentioned to people without context that I got an A+ on a test that she got an A- on even though I wasn't even in the class.

This isn't necessarily science, but info from Red Cross.

EDIT: LifeServe Blood Center is where I donate blood and they limit platelets to every two weeks.

Ultimately that makes sense if you are limited to about 26 times a year since that would average out to once every two weeks. Apparently platelets can't be stored as long as most other blood products (only 5 days) so regular donation is imperative.

I just give at the Red Cross, I do Power Reds which counts as a double donation and can help up to 3 separate patients. Currently I'm at 5.25 gallons

LifeServe calls those double reds, which I cannot do because I am not tall enough.

Every system at work is down currently and I am never more glad to not work anything even i.t. adjacent.
A few years ago we had all of our internal systems go down the last few days of the fiscal year. SAP, time charging etc. Everything came go a grinding halt.

My boss just keeps vaguely saying keep trying to work. And I am unsure what that means.
