Update on Lew as we discussed the results of the biopsy with the doc today. It is NOT histo again. It is a "small lymphoma consistent with his CLL". Next step is a bone marrow biopsy to get a base-line concentration of CLL in the marrow. After that, we discuss treatment options. It doesn't appear that heavy-duty chemo or radiation are in the near future (thank God). More likely, it will be a choice between a fixed term monthly pill + infusion for a year, or a different pill that, once on it, will have to take for the rest of his life. Since the lesion is related to his CLL, surgery is off the list of options. Mostly because it would be an unnecessary invasive procedure. Either of the pill treatments involved will basically "melt the lesion away", as the doc worded it.
Biopsy is next Tuesday, doc appt to discuss options is the following Tuesday.
Think good thoughts for him, m'kay?
