The police had a bunch! Although they were using some of those for parts, I think. Patrolled over CR all night long. That actually helped our traffic count a lot.
Was there helipads somewhere downtown that cops took off from? Also kcrg was getting rid of there's right around the time I moved to crapids did they have a pad on the roof of their current building?

KCRG’s helicopter was based at the airport.

The city/police helicopters were mostly based at the airport; for a time there was a landing area they used along the Cedar River near where the current police station is, I think. They crashed one of their helicopters there in the mid-90s, IIRC, and then they quit using it.

I think the hotel that’s now the Doubletree used to have a helipad on the roof (at least it looked like it from the ground) but as I far as I knew it was never used. At some point when they remodeled the building they removed it.

When your self propelled push mower decides that you should propel it half way into mowing my yard yesterday. Turns out it threw the belt off. Those personal pace Toro’s are a beast to push especially in 6” tall grass that I just mowed last Friday. Getting the belt back on, I’m like WTF!! 30 minutes later and some f-bombs and a couple pinched fingers….the mower is again propelling itself.

Made a bunch of meatballs last night. Have to vacuum seal and freeze most of them. Then buy some Italian sausage and Canadian bacon and make up individual packs of pizza toppings to freeze.

There was a helipad on top of the hotel. Growing up I had friend through scouts whose dad was a CRPD pilot and had landed up there for the fun of it. One of my last memories of the CRPD heli was going to an IMAX movie just after a snowstorm and they were hovering around the pad to clean it off.

I always thought it was cool to see Bobby hovering somewhere over town while we were watching him live on TV. Then again I am a nerd.

@cmjh10 did some amish family quit being amish? The auction house west of you has over 70 cast iron skillets on it. About 5-10 waffle irons and much more cast iron cooking ware. Throw in the seed signs and used tires and it will be a long auction, thankfully its all online.

Just saw 30 hand crank meat grinders.

Been sort of grounded all day. Kinda of sick so been napping and using CF to kill time. Debating whether to too sick to venture out for late birding walk. Still in pajamas.

Moving my sister back down here on Thursday. She told the building manager that she would be moving out that day, but they didn't have anyone lined up to move in so she wouldn't be pro-rated the last 2 weeks of the month. Now she was told today that she has to be out by noon on Thursday. Not picking U-haul up until 8 and it takes an hour to get up there. She doesn't have a lot of stuff, but a 3 hour window is pushing it.

Is it an online auction? If so, with what company?

If you're wanting to buy any cast iron, KC, the shipping is going to be brutal.
@cmjh10 or I can bring it down. I gotta move the daughter to her new apartment by the end of July and then you always have FB games. I have bids in some stuff also. Always fun to buy stuff you haven’t looked at. I have the winning bid on 3 things so far. One involved calling a mechanic I know and asking what he thinks the issue is and banking on that.

Tomorrow I get to go from clear lake to cedar rapids for a 2 hour meeting. Then to Omaha for a 2 hour meeting. Then back to the clear lake area. It’s going to be a long day. Think I’m actually packing a cooler to have some drinks and other stuff with. Otherwise it’s Taco Bell or gas station food/drinks. Maybe the meetings will be shorter and I can take breaks between.

EDIT: add in that it will be half an hour before and after clear lake also. Then I get to leave early in the morning for state track. Maybe I can pull the auto steer out of a tractor and have it drive me part of the way.

I don't necessarily see the need or have any sort of desire for autopilot for driving around town but absolutely have a desire for it on long highway drives. Not to take a nap but just do anything but watching mile after mile of road. Would have loved it for our long drives between CR and Wichita. Especially the ones at night.
