New water softener burns about a bag in 25 days. Used to use a bag a week. Then again there are two less kids at home now.

I worked outside all summer once. I had such a great tan that year. I never wore a shirt.
Just read on FB that a former longtime bartender at The Cafe was killed Wed. night in a crash invoking a drunk driver. Jonah was a rare find for us “older” people - respectful, polite, anticipating next order, all while being irreverent,sarcastic and always speaking his mind. He talked about grad school and law school and was student teaching, I believe, when we last saw him. Even though we were pretty sure we wouldn’t see him again, it still sucks to know we won’t.

Some days it is good to be paid per diem. Today was one of them.
I'm not a golf fan, but I am currently watching the end of a golf tournament (I actually turned the tv on to watch the news). They are on their FIFTH sudden death hole.

Got in my 26 miles to keep on pace for 300 this month. Wind was not as bad as earlier in the day.
Got passed by a roller blader.
Dude was like a speed ice skater, hands clasped behind his back and everything. I was biking 16 mph at the time. Not sure I've ever been passed by a blader before. ****** came within a couple inches of hitting my front tire with his right skate stride.

@NWICY we did stuffed peppers after your post last week and monster garden bed peppers to use. Doctored it up a bit more adding rice like a traditional recipe + black beans and roasted herbed cherry tomatoes (cuz we are drowning in all 'maters!!) and it came out really good. The taco seasoning on the hamburger was the way to go. DH and I Tried a recipe way back in apartment days and it was gross. I would definitely make this again.
We moved our son into his dorm at the U of MN yesterday. I guess he was ready and the move went smoothly. The last thing my youngest daughter said to him was, "I can't believe you're leaving me alone with those fools." I assume she's talking about the pets. His friends that haven't left yet already visited him last night. It really wasn't any easier with him than with the first one. I guess I'll miss having him around even if it seemed like he was gone all the time. It was weird last night. We locked the door to the garage. Usually, we need to leave it unlocked because he isn't home yet.
Also, we ate dinner at a Taiwanese hot pot place. How is it that I've never tried that before. It was terrific.

The second one is hitting me harder. Having two in a house keeps it busy, one not so much. It’s damn quiet around here.
I remember the day I moved in my freshman year. My brother and I went to the same school so we had both been 'back' for the summer.
Can't quite recall what my dad said as he walked back to the car but he seemed ready for some quiet and was just sort of 'call next week, let me know how it goes'.
It will be pretty quiet and I suppose that I won't miss seeing dirty dishes in the sink every morning. It's just kind of weird. Oh well. He's ready for it even if I'm not totally ready.
It's odd. When my sisters moved out I don't recall it getting any quieter, but I do remember it being weird when it was just my parents, my younger brother and I at the kitchen table. We even took the leaf out of the table so my mom moved around to the foot of the table. That was what seemed weird.
