It's a great series. I keep trying to read through a biography I picked up several years ago, but I always seem to get distracted by some other thing in life.

That's been happening with most of my book reading. Tsundoku is very real in the Entropy household.
FDR or TR biography? I have read the following:

McCullough is an easy read, but you have to be dedicated to read Morris. I never read the other two on Teddy in the Morris trilogy (The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt and Colonel Roosevelt).

Teddy succeeded the assassinated McKinley, and easily won re-election in 1908. He thereupon announced that he would not run again, much to his own chagrin. He was one of the most popular Presidents in history, mainly because he was seen as an everyman, a straight shooter, and a champion of the working class.

Aw, c'mon...FESS UP!!! We need the details of your transgression(s)!!!
'Twasn't me who uttered that. I did, however, say yes earlier. That's what set everything off.
Besides, I would have said, "Oops."

I'm stuck on "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt." I just can't seem to find the time to get past Harvard.

Another great book, which is easier to read, is "The River of Doubt" by Candice Millard. That trip down the Amazon almost killed him, and likely may have shortened his life.

River of Doubt is a great read. He was a real badass.

Thanks. I will add to my reading list.

Question for the heavy readers. Did you grow up reading a lot? I just can’t seem to get into reading a book, but was never pushed that hard to do that early on. By age 9-10 I was working most of the spare time I had due to the farm work. I have one kid who reads a lot and one who doesn’t. The one who reads, did it as a younger kid also.

Yeah, I read a lot as a kid growing up but was uber-active as well. I haven't read nearly as much lately. Sadly I have let parenthood and all the extra that goes with that get in the way and I frankly don't use my free time as wisely as I used to. I'm afraid on my deathbed I will look back with regret at all the time I have frittered away.

I was a voracious reader.
Now I seem to be distracted by the internet (so much information!) and work/volunteer projects.

When I learned to read it opened up so much for me. I checked out the maximum number of books every time we went to our library, I read cereal boxes at breakfast and the toothpaste tube when I should have been brushing my teeth. I got in trouble a few times when I was supposed to be taking a bath after supper (I was first in line) and I read instead. Then I would run more water in the tub and tell my parents it was because it got too cold. Was the truth but not the right truth. I even wanted to write little books (stapling paper together) and sell them in our front yard. Yeah, that last didn't happen.
All of the above was before I was in 4th grade. I still love to read and have missed going to libraries and checking out books.

What I did read in my pre middle school to middle school time was financial stuff, would look to find trends or consistencies in markets and stuff like that. I was fascinated with balance sheets and cash flows. Patterns and trends were of interest.

My older sister read everything in sight. If I read I preferred short stories. I did read a decent amount of books for a while from about 20-30 years old.

What areaish (don't have to mention the town) of the state are you in?

I'm getting a bit antsy to get up north...maybe over the next month.
The greater Madison area. I'm really excited to be back in this part of the state.

I had the first dose of Pfizer yesterday, just a little sore at the injection spot.
Yeah, I've heard that if you're going to get side effects to the Pfizer vaccine, it'll be on the second shot. But I'll be glad to get it on Saturday just in case.

We are peas in a pod. I still read - not quite as much as I used to - and once I start a book, I'm pretty well hooked. I am waiting for a book right now about the cop murder case in Texas that resulted in one of the most highly praised documentary films of all time. (That film was The Thin Blue Line.) I'm also working my way through George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones books.

They'll most likely schedule your second shot for Saturday May 15th as that will be 3 weeks after the first.
