They were fifth cousins once removed. Eleanor's father and Teddy were brothers, FWIW. For those keeping score that means that they shared 4th great grandparents (great-great-great-great-grandparents)/5th great grandparents so clearly very closely related. (I'm not sure for whom the grandparents were 5th great and for whom they were 4th great.)

EDIT: Nevermind, I found this. I imagine a lot of people might find they are this distantly related to their spouse and never knew it. That is six/seven generations...

I find it just a little bit weird that a family would have a son that lived for several months before dying in infancy and then reuse his name five years later on another son.

I really hope these vaccine numbers reported are lagging behind. Based on the numbers, about 61% of adult Iowans have at least one shot and many counties are beginning to turn away vaccines.
 
Interesting that Teddy was a Republican (these were the days when Republicans were considered progressive!) and FDR was of course a Democrat. Teddy's family was from Oyster Bay, NY area, while FDR's clan was Hyde Park. Each family tended to look down their noses at the other a little bit.

I believe my dads name was his brothers middle name before him who died in infancy

I had the first dose of Pfizer yesterday, just a little sore at the injection spot.

Yeah that's what I've done before but if they're officially closed until May it may not be the case.

I can't believe people weren't able to go there like last weekend when the weather was nice.

Same thing on the motorcycle.
I rode from Sundance Wy to Omaha and my fitbit recorded something like 75,000 steps

It's a great series. I keep trying to read through a biography I picked up several years ago, but I always seem to get distracted by some other thing in life.

That's been happening with most of my book reading. Tsundoku is very real in the Entropy household.

Just finished snowing in Urbandale about 30 minutes ago. I'm getting tired of these well below average temps that we have had but it sounds like it will finally begin to warm up early next week.

My brother once rode his motorcycle from Iowa to Army training in Washington camping on the way. It was an eventful trip culminated in riding across one of the high bridges out there in a blizzard with significant snow on the ground and very high crosswinds. He said he just put both big army boots on the ground and kind of skied across the bridge at a slow speed. The base newspaper was planning on doing a story on the first to report and he had built time into his trip so he was first to arrive. They were ecstatic that they had a great story to tell. He used to post on here as XLK9.
