My understanding is it was a combination of mills and plants closing down due to the pandemic and social distancing requirements on top of more people doing home projects due to being home more than usual. So basically demand went up while supply and production went down.

Pretty much spot on. After the pandemic began, the "R" word (recession) caused many industries to pull back production-wise. Our business, however, fueled by a combination of low interest and extra time, took off. So we had high demand and low supply, which means...........Economics 101.

COVID has affected the supply line from front to back, people out sick, people home scared, etc. And so we had a perfect storm.

Oddly enough, I'm hearing that log plantation owners in the South are getting less money for their logs than ever before. (Please don't crucify me for using that word, I certainly don't mean anything racist or demeaning.)

So what is the justification for low lumber prices at the gate because they can?

If you're talking about why the lumber guys can't get better prices for their logs, it's because of low production. There's a glut at the mills - if they were running at full capacity (normal world, no COVID) then the logs would be in great demand and they'd get paid.

Pretty crazy cave thread about losing friends and/or family to political differences. Now they're dragging religion into it....next will be The Topic That Shall Not Be Discussed.

Honest question - for those of you who have used both, is Costco better than Sam's Club, or vice versa? Inquiring minds want to know.
We have a membership to both (ask Mrs. Velo why...). I prefer Costco hands down. In my experience Sam's is like having a membership to Wal-Mart and I avoid Wal-Mart whenever I can.

Read this afternoon that LifeServe is pausing/stopping the collection of convalescent COVID-19 plasma on March 20. Apparently plasma can be stored for awhile..? They said they have a good supply right now. Wonder if they’ll still test for antibodies. Guess I’ll find out later this month.

Mine dropped past the donating levels, so I'm back to double reds on March 24th(?) whatever day they told me. Oh well it was a good run.

@cowgirl836 check this out!!!!

The ISU meat judging team (yes it is a real thing) has a really high percentage of female participants. The comments could write themselves. A friend of mine married a gal from the meats team. He must have graded well.

I'm starting to wonder if I got reinfected without knowing it since my ABs were still present last month from a year ago.

2nd shot tomorrow...I'm a little nervous about how I'll feel Friday but I don't understand that since I don't recall feeling nervous about voluntarily drinking when the next day result was about the same or way worse, haha.

At least by voluntarily drinking you feel good and have fun before feeling under the weather. With the shot all you feel is a little prick.
