Random Thoughts 15: Crystal Clear 2021 Edition

Well, no surprise, but Gameday/Cy-Hawk day wiped out our business today, so we sent most everyone home early.
We tallied team gear worn by customers today (because we had that kind of time). Results were a dominant Cyclone victory:
ISU gear: 86
Iowa: 17
UNI (WTF?): 1

Pressure's on Campbell to match that now.

Today’s game was a reality check and I won’t apologize for not staying to the end. At least we can now work on what we really need to.

Been sort of cutting all ties with Iowa (except for my sister and family) and by default ISU. I still have a CF addiction but didn't even watch the game today except for a bit of the 1st quarter. Reseeded the yard with many wheelbarrows of dirt and lot-o-raking. By the time I was done game was 24-10 and essentially over so didn't bother turning it back on. Will see if come basketball season I can muster some interest again.

Gonna pop a bottle of wine and check into CF once in awhile to see how the meltdown is going, although not really going to read those threads.
 
Well..........................................................that was disappointing.

Actually had a pretty nice day other than the game, caught up with some friends and visited with them, met some fun to visit with new people. Didn't think it was too terrible out with the breeze, walk back to the car was worse with no breeze IMO. My seats are what I thought they would be (in the stadium, no high rolling for me).

I know I'm getting more "mature" my water to beer ratio while tailgating was 2:1 to make for 2 beers total LOL.

It was nice to see that white and black tennis skirts (Thats what I call them anyway) are popular.

@BoxsterCy you would enjoyed the young lady at the tailgate a solid 6'2"

Oh well time to click on the FB Forum and see what the "brain trust" knows. LOL

All my interactions with random hawkeye fans were favorable. There was a group of 20 somethings in my section that were loud but that's fine ISU didn't do anything on the field to shut them up.
 
I counted about six thread titles wanting to get rid of Campbell, or pissed at him, or whatever. The only thing I DIDN'T understand was attempting a field goal on first down with 31 seconds left in the game. Why not at least try a play or two?

They had a makeable fg and knew they'd need an onside kick and all the time they could get to score. I think from a pure math standpoint it might be the right call.

Oh crap. Hmmm. Well, DD is enjoying her independence (she’s at a school in Florida) and her first fall game was yesterday. I know she was starting, and she says she did well, but they were going to Gainesville last night so she didn’t have time to FaceTime.

Really wish they would do a GameChanger or something so we can follow the games from afar.

I’m getting used to the empty nest. I was actually in Ames last weekend for the UNI game, that was an insane amount of fun. Went to the Cubs game Wednesday night with a friend and just enjoyed walking around lakefront neighborhoods beforehand. Got to stay busy and distracted to keep from crying because you miss your baby girl so much, lol.
