Random and Misc Car Talk Thread

Not selling, but I spend a lot of time there cursing the inflated prices on Chrysler Conquests.
are you on the FB groups for them? have kept along with them as maybe a future project car idea. that or importing a wagon of some sort from Japan is my current idea.

Here's my fun car - 1995 Miata M Edition.

You may really like that, this is just my two cents. I've seen a lot of videos from guys that get their dream JDM and then end up selling it because the right hand drive is too much of a hassle here.

not really a project currently more a yard ornament in the back. '98 Isuzu Trooper. Once I get some room to actually work on it though a small lift and brake upgrade since it needs both currently. undecided on if I want to do a GM 4.8l v8 with NV3500 swap on it.

I used to wheel an Isuzu Rodeo back in the day and honestly, it was a blast. At the time there were a few places making some decent aftermarket parts for Rodeos and Troopers. Been out of it long enough now I’m not sure what’s out there. There used to be a fairly big Isuzu community on Pirate 4x4.

most of what I would be looking at was already sold here left hand drive on other variants. something like the Galant wagon in VR4 form though would be cool.

Isuzu still has a decent following for older passenger vehicles thankfully. I know through FB post that jeep Grand Cherokee springs and a few suspension mods work on the Troopers. and there's enough cross branding from them they have decent enough reach in the aftermarket too.

I have a 1979 F150 that I have fully restored which has 81,000 original miles. I am the 2nd owner and it sat outside under a tree in its first life while driving an insurance agent back and forth to work daily one mile. My problem is that when started at low rpm’s it has low oil pressure and once it warms up it runs fine with no engine noise. My local garage mechanic says it needs a complete engine overhaul at $10,000 which I am reluctant to jump into. It took 8 years to complete the restoration and I’m ready to drive it locally some and attend some area shows. Any CF experience or opinions as to my next step?

oh it would be a 4th or 5th vehicle maybe at this point so the hassle would really just be a quirk really.

the FB pages are active for the trooper and I'm sure for the Rodeo too, with the wide spread market and badging of both under different brands the market is there, I could turn mine into an early 2000s luxury rig with Acura parts if I wanted to even.

it wouldn't cost 10k to overhaul the engine at all on that. at this point if you are comfortable you could easily do so yourself even for far less.

What motor is in it now? There’s a couple of motor options from the late 70’s that are not worth overhauling in my opinion. You could buy a crate motor for way less than $10k and have fuel injection. If you’re handy enough you could install it yourself and save a bunch of money. CJponyparts.com has tons of parts for your truck.

you could probably put in a brand new 5.0 coyote for about that. I love the motor itself in my work truck, hate the 10 speed it's paired with.

Nope, I just have them flagged on BAT. I'm afraid they are both naturally rare because of sales numbers and getting the current 80's/90's JDM nostalgia push conspiring to keep them out of a logical price range for me. We had a car lot when I was in high school that had three of them. The owner liked them so he bought a few. He had them in red, white and blue. The owner's was the white auto, my buddy bought the blue 5 speed. Not sure where the red one went.

oh mine is worth slightly more then we paid for it 6 years ago now, even in current condition. thankfully though they have avoided the Toyota tax too. a room mate down in NC had a 2nd gen Passport/Rodeo for a while while I was there and loved it too.

Bought in 6-2019. 2007 BMW 328I, non-turbo. It is as clean inside as it looks outside.

A little research said to stay away from the turbo model. That model wouldhave been destroyed by some idiot throttle jockey. It is a 3 liter inline 6 with stump pulling acceleration, if needed.

Dude wanted $5K, I said "I'll offer $4.5K and we will settle at $4.75K".

20 seconds he agreed. A beauty to drive and admire.
