Purchasing movies digitally

We’re big into the Apple ecosystem so use it. We have probably 125 movies purchased through it as the kids have grown (6 and 11). Personally I don’t like rewatching movies so don’t buy for myself, but would stick with Apple if I did.

Only thing that really matters is what company will likely be around in the future and I consider Apple at the top of the list compared to Vudu, Redbox, etc.
We use Vudu and like it a lot. We converted our DVD library to digital and then combined it with our BIL to utilize that platform. Vudu is owned by Fandango so they are backed by NBC and Warner. They should have some sticking power as well.

In reality, though, I haven't purchased a new movie in a long time. We have a fairly substantial library in case we want to re-watch something, but there's so much new content and so little free time to watch something as it is. Once we got our daughter past that "rewatch Frozen a billion times" stage, I don't have a huge need for purchased movies.

Great point.

With our kids now being out of the constantly watching the same movies stage and most streaming services having back catalogs, we probably won't buy anything again. We bought every new Disney movie as it came out the past 12 years and that goes away with Disney +. I have a few series like MacGyver and Get Smart and movies like Road House and Tango and Cash for my personal nostalgia purposes, but everything else is available on Disney, Netflix, etc.

VUDU's transition from Wal-Mart to Fandango had a lot of users concerned, myself included, that we would lose some of our purchases and its actually turned out to be the opposite. A lot of movies I had on my wishlist that were not available now are and I lost a total of 0 of my 700+ movies. They're definitely showing to have sticking power even in transition.

If you've ever browsed their free section, there are some unique movies. Unique = weird af

I used to buy movies all of the time, I don't know if I've bought one for 10 years. Honestly there is so much stuff I want to watch that I haven't I couldn't catch up on everything on any real timeframe.

I use Vudu, for what I purchase. But you can link multiple platforms together, like Vudu, Amazon, Google, Disney, etc and most, if not all will work across platforms. Vudu seems to link with most and accept digital purchases from most. Not sure about Apple, because I dont use anything apple, except Apple+.

What I do is I keep an eye on sales and deals for movies I absolutely want to buy, and buy them when they go on sale. Or I use resale sites like Ultravioletcinema.com for better deals.

I don't purchase many movies anymore. But I stick with Apple.

I don’t think we’ve bought anything in years. Occasionally we rent through Amazon if something isn’t available through the multitude of streaming services we have. If the kids want something not on one of the streaming services, typically we tell them they’re SOL. There’s enough content of those they can substitute.
