PSU Campbell Presser

After ruminating about what's transpired over the last few days, I have gone from looking at Campbell's departure at an emotional level to one that looks at it through the lens of reality. The reality is, for all the coach speak about "process," any coach worth his salt wants to win & win at the highest level. We've been close a couple years to getting a playoff invite (d*** injury epidemics), but with the system rigged to favor the B1G and SEC, the Big 12 is a 1-bid league. You have to be nearly perfect in our conference to have a chance to play for a Natty. Matt is going to a conference where there will likely be, at minimum, 3 bids every year. The opportunity for his team to get to the playoffs just increased 3-4 fold. Ultimately, this is why I don't fault him at all for leaving.

Who is this Campbell person everyone is talking about?

I appreciate all he brought to the university, but also understand why he left. It just could not have occurred at a worst time on the calendar, no bowl game, we are now scrambling to keep our players and the new recruits. It will be interesting to see if he has learned from his mistakes at ISU, no special teams coach and things of that nature. With their talent and their schedule they will win 9 games next year at least, but unlike at ISU he will not be measured by number of wins, but is he beating Oregon, OSU and Michigan. Beat those teams from time to time the other victories will be there, be like Franklin and lose the top 5 ranked teams repeatedly and he will be gone in 5 years.

These stadium walks are weird, they did one at Florida too and it was super awkward, like you have to be happy in this moment no matter what, you can see in both instances it was a bit forced.

Golesh had one too that was equally awkward. These dudes have all seen big empty football stadiums before. Amazement and wonder are hard things to fake.

Anyone know what Matt's buyout is at Ped State?

I was really on the Campbell train until the Oklahoma game in 2020.

Biggest stage you can possibly get, driving for the win, then all of a sudden we have 2 false starts in a row, they dont get the next play in on time, they barely get the snap off and then Brock throws a pick. Why he didn't use his last time out ill never know, but it was coaching malpractice at the highest level.

He then followed that up with the best returning talent in school history and turned Breece Hall and Brock Purdy into a 7-5 team.

I appreciate all he did here, but I haven't really cared much since 2021 if he left or not.
