I love the "we lead for all but the last three minutes!" moral victory. Also lead for most of the football game but unfortunately for EIU there's only one specific point in time where having the lead matters.

Well they must have really had a hard time with games like 2013 in Hilton.

Looked it up and Iowa was ahead for a vast majority of that one with exception to about the 9ish mark and was up by 5 with 1:30 left.

Ouch.

I was just thinking about strength of schedule since TJ has been here compared to Fran and it's pretty crazy. Iowa State has played a total of 40 games against ranked teams compared to Iowa's 21. In the non-conference, Iowa State has played 7 games in 4 years against ranked opponents while Iowa has played 5. That doesn't seem as bad until you realize Iowa State has accounted for 3 of those 5 and Iowa has accounted for 0 of Iowa State's.

Records
TJ: 21-19
Fran: 6-15

The ceiling is high for McCollum. Plus he is a class act and his players aren't ***holes.

If Iowa did hire him, I almost would be forced to start liking Iowa men's basketball
For me, it'd be like it was when Dr Tom was there. I would like the coach but still despise the players and tavern hok fans.

2015 was even more brutal for the hawks. Up 8 with 2 mins left. They were leading the 4th ranked Cyclones until 10 seconds left when Monte Morris hit a shot to take the lead.

I still remember as a student at the time, the guy behind me talking about how he has never seen a win sitting on the non-band side in the student section. We almost forced the kid to switch sides at halftime but fortunately we broke his unlucky streak.

It is mostly the fans that make Iowa bad. Every team has players you dislike as an opponent and being your in-state rival definitely kicks that up a notch but there's been plenty of Iowa players I've admired/respected, e.g. Keegan Murray was a great player, not dirty in any way, wish we'd had him.

Most delusional, arrogant, non-ball-knowing fanbase I've ever encountered by far, especially the older folks. They were ranked #1 for a couple weeks 40 years ago football and MBB and think that this has placed them on some "one tiny step short of elite" tier that the likes of lowly Iowa State has never aspired to. Maybe when all the old farts who went through Haydenism cross the rainbow bridge they will collectively improve, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

Yeah Lipsey played like he played all last year. I wasn't shocked at all when he hit those, I was more happy that he finally looked comfortable. After an injury, especially upper body, it's going to take a bit to get back to where you were. But people were acting like he was chopped liver out there and his threes were lucky or something.

And of course Dembele going perfect from the field, 3-3 from deep and tying his career high points was looked at as normal. I mean cmon you had their managers jumping up and down and hugging one another when he hit his third wide open three of the game. I give credit to Ladji for playing his best game of his career so far.
Yeah, he was 4 of 13 before scorching ISU. In over a year of play he had never hit more than 2 3s in a game. He's also a career .444 FT shooter so it sounds like the charity stripe is even actually a little out of his range.

Then there is this game against Texas in the 2015 Big 12 Tourney. ISU literally never led for a full 40 minutes but Monte's shot goes in after time expired to win the game. Almost makes you feel bad for the 'horns - almost...

I have never, nor will I ever, listen to 2GNC. I have no desire - no thank you. In fact, I don't listen to anything on IE but I never miss CW/BB twice a week.
I've tried 2GNC a couple times. Zero appeal to me.

CW/BB I listen to sometimes, but there's just not a lot there really. Can be pretty repetitive content wise, but the back and forth between them is good. Filler noise when I work out.

“When you are rivals, it is not enough for you to beat your rival. They must suffer losses to many others, devastating losses, to truly make you happy.”
Also that their children and grandchildren wail and cry when they recall that moment. That is rival hatred.
