CW has gotten soft with age and the growth of his businesses. He doesn't want to offend anyone.
True. I am actually not sure he has ever really hated Iowa the way most Iowa State fans do. Between his former fanhood of them and now media neutrality toward them, if you want to call it that, I don't think he hates Iowa.

To contrast that however, I do not think Hassell loathes the Cyclones either. I actually think he has come around into being somewhat a closet fan of them, or at least be objectively neutral, but still likes to press buttons of ISU fans.

I think you're giving about 80% of their fanbase too much credit for thinking about something so "deep."
Go to their board and tell me I am wrong. Its all about their coaches leaving on their own without the buyout. If ISU is the #3 ranked team in the country then they must be in the top 10 for playing us so close most of the game, and the rest of it.

They are starting to figure out over east that while they are going to have a lot of money from TV coming in, its going out as fast, they owe a lot of money for structures, they have built and the West Coast teams they are now playing have better athletes then what they are used to seeing the B10 from Wisconsin, Minn, and the rest of the bottom of the conference. Throw in ISU winning and its not a pretty future for EIU. Their fan base loves talking smack, to other schools, but to do that they have to continue to beat those schools, and they see that slipping, especially to ISU.

When exactly was CDub trying to offend anyone? Outside of his extremist views on Red Panda, I mean.

Sure appears they intend to stiff the university on their "loan".

The CW talk is kind of funny - I remember Hok friends and coworkers from back in IA hating him starting when he was on Fanatics with Ross. That was probably more of a sense of entitlement vs anything Chris said.

I love the "we lead for all but the last three minutes!" moral victory. Also lead for most of the football game but unfortunately for EIU there's only one specific point in time where having the lead matters.

I was referring to the t-shirt "fans." Not sure they even know what conference Iowa or ISU is in.

You get a pass on that.

Decades of conditioning to watching certain teams play in the same conference and having it make total sense since they're in the same general region/side of the country and it's taking some time to adjust.

I have an Iowa friend who calls him B-Rabbit. Pretty spot on. He has some Quad Cities river rat coming through.

Didn’t he say he couldn’t wait to play ISU? Now he is looking at a realistic chance of never beating them. They are gonna have a difficult time in Hilton next year and I wouldn’t put it past TJ to have a good team in Carver in 2 years.

My favorites are the "this was a horrible year for our football team and your best and you only beat us by 3" and "your best basketball team ever could barely beat our average basketball team".

Hell in my experience they are the worst about knocking ISU and other schools, people that never spent a day in college at EIU but are die hard fans of the school. Just like every time a couple of ISU fans are together and a EIU fan walks by they have to yell out "go squawks". Everything to them is a rivalry.

I don't look at Hok message boards often, but will occasionally peruse them after Cy-Hawk games. There are a LOT Iowa fans who are clamoring for Beth to hire Ben McCollum (Drake coach) once Fran moves on. I certainly want Fran to stay in Iowa City as long as possible - but I hope that they get another Fran doppelganger vs someone like McCollum.

The ceiling is high for McCollum. Plus he is a class act and his players aren't ***holes.

If Iowa did hire him, I almost would be forced to start liking Iowa men's basketball
