You people need to lighten up. He's having fun.

Sports content that's just dry x and o's is boring AF.

It's why KFAN is a juggernaut here. They don't do that boring ****.

Pull up your pants, and have some fun. It's supposed to be lighthearted.

So I guess that is what I was asking...it is an act.

CW just needs to have Grant Mahoney guest host with Hassel so someone will give it back to Hassel. I think CW wants to play straight man to Hassel’s act but that just means only the Clones are getting joked about.

I think Hassel was playing it up a lot. He knows it wasn’t luck but he’s still trying to troll Iowa State because they won. It’s taken a couple years but you gotta learn how Hassel works and operates. He’s just a troll sometimes
He’s still pissed ever since ESPN let him go. He’s holding a grudge and decided to stir the pot by trolling cyclone fans. He has to soothe that little ego he has.

I am not upset about it but I think it can go too far sometimes. Not that I take it seriously but when it drags on for awhile or keeps getting brought up in the middle of legit discussion it can get kind of old. I do agree though that in general keeping things fun and light-hearted is a good listen and that show can make me laugh out loud sometimes. Plus Hassel trolls Iowa as much as ISU.

Rewatch thoughts:

1. We didn’t play nearly as poorly, or we were t as *outplayed* as it seemed in real time. Rotations were abysmal and we let their guards cook us 1:1, and they shot unconscious, but there was almost always a timely bucket to stop the bleeding from getting completely out of control.

2.Milan while not doing much compared to avg, contributed his buckets at helpful times in the first half.

3. Brandt C has monster big boy minutes in his limited time. Great traps that led to turnovers and block outs. He got some unfavorable whistles going against dirtball Owen Freeman, but liked his time on review.

4. Tamin’s tip outs. Didn’t count but he must’ve had 3-5 rebound tip outs that helped us close out uofi possessions. Doesn’t show up on stats, but amazing plays.

5. 2 missed T’s. And other misses. Freeman did an air humping on the rim. Much less has been called at home against ISU that I can remember. And of course the ball slam. More than one over the back then quick whistle on ISU after they let Iowa play through. Really quick to call the fouls on the *floor* when Gilbert was driving.

Really let them play against our bigs down low and overall on our drives which felt atypical.

6. How did they call the ball going out of bounds on review out on ISU? Seemed clear Gilbert was slapped on the arm and the swiping motion also was last to touch the ball.

7. Jefferson strong hands grabbing boards, but can be next level if he hits those bunny put backs. He straight SNATCHED a few rebounds in traffic and just willed it. Same with the late game fouls when Harding went for the steal. Didn’t even bump it loose. If when he finds his touch around the rim in traffic that’s a 20 pt win

Blum would be my pick of the current roster.

Come on guys… next time try listening, but only focusing on when CW and Vanwinkle are making fun of Iowa. I honestly think the friendly rubbing is much worse for that half since both CW and Matt pile on. Overall I love the show and think it’s light hearted entertainment. We get 10-15 mins of fun lighthearted joking around with hints of truth and then 5-10 minutes of their true opinion. I think it’s great.

I need to watch still but anytime the ball won't fall things look worse especially if the opponent is hitting everything. It's also harder mentally.

ISU getting it to 7 at half was probably a good sign even if it took almost all of the 2nd half to break through.

That's interesting. As an Iowa State fan, if you were offered a 25-6 record right now, would you take it? Not sure I would.
I agree. I don’t know that we drop 5 in conference with Arizona down this year and questions about KU, Houston, Baylor, etc

Don’t disagree, but feel *getting it to 7* was a bit of a misnomer. When 7 was essentially what ISU was down.

It was only momentarily 11-13; mostly stayed between 5-9, with there almost always being a response.

Yeah and that's what I'd like to see the game for.

Score wise every time I checked it was around 9-10 points and the box score was about how I thought things would go.

I whiffed on thinking Iowa could finish the game like that though.

The game thread made it seem like ISU was down by about 30.

Someone earlier in the thread said that Hassel needs to grow up and be a "grown a** man".... why? That would be SO boring... I'd never watch.

He could probably grow a bit. It’s a little ridiculous that a grown man can’t make a meal for himself when his spouse is out of town, and the same spouse has to ensure there are premade meals for Chris.

Well, if you get an A+ all semester in a class, then go 0-10 on the final, you probably aren't getting an A as the final grade
He doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does,in my opinion.

It’s a different listening experience if you remember Hassell knows EXACTLY what he’s doing and is basically doing a bit. He’s not for everyone, I get it. If you don’t take it so seriously, it’s pretty entertaining.

A few random thoughts...

Some Iowa fans are taking the loss hard in part because they don't know this is just typical Curtis Jones. This is who he was second half of last year and all this year. He's a statistically elite player in the entire nation. Long, plays tough defense, doesn't make mistakes, good hands/finishing, crazy range on his threes. They might be hung up on him not starting every game, if you made an All Big 12 team statistically right now he'd be on edge of 1st team and zero doubt second team.

Iowa's trio of Sandfort, Dix and Freeman is a very good core but there's not much beyond it. Ignore that they're nerdy white guys, it is a good core, but they're still missing a dynamic playmaker who can get to the rim. They are always missing a true elite point guard. Harding gets assist stats sometimes but it's really because he just dribbles around with the ball a lot and possesses the ball so much, he's not an attacking point guard like all 3 of our current combo guards or even a less heralded guy like Jaren Holmes . It's been a loooooooong time since they had a Dean Oliver or Andre Woolridge and ISU has had like 10 to 15 very good attacking pgs since then. Fran is just somehow Kryptonite to recruiting or developing elite pgs.

As an NBA fan I kind of scoffed at the Sandfort-to-NBA craze last year and I'm still on that line of thought. He's really similar to like Matt Thomas if Thomas had shown less defensively. Thomas absolutely TORCHED the summer league every chance he got and still couldn't stick beyond some cups of coffee. In terms of looking at a guy who could be dropped into an NBA game tomorrow and contribute as a role player, it's by far Curtis Jones. The next guy might actually be Jefferson if he could improve his jumper a little. Then the tier below that you've got Gilbert, Momcilovic, and Sandfort who all have something that would need to take a big step forward but there's maybe an outside chance, MM with the obviously highest ceiling of those guys.

Loved Jaren Holmes
