Post-game Cyhawk thread

Hassel has his schtick and was really playing it up today. Some people find it funny and some don’t. But he knows exactly what he’s doing and is not stupid enough to think the refs actually helped us out last night and he’s clearly being sarcastic when he’s talking about us chucking up threes and getting lucky.

As others have pointed out, being sarcastic and being a troll is part of the schtick. I personally don’t love him, but find the podcasts with CW are much more enjoyable when you know he’s not being serious all of the time.

He’s probably the least annoying of the Hawkeye media because the others are less talented (this guy did 5 years at ESPN which is legit) and way more serious and biased.
We keep spelling his name wrong...I believe it is Assel. :mccaffery:

I love what CW has built here, but hassel's act is awful. I don't get it. Talk to people who knew Hassel growing up, and he is just an adult version. He truly hates Iowa State and spends copius amounts of energy floating outright hatred, disingenuous flattery of Iowa State, and is basically condescending to anything ISU. His dad is on the act. CW would be better to distance himself, over the long haul. CW's personal brand, in the long haul, will not be helped by this association.
I think Chris Williams knows what's been good for Chris Williams so far in life...I think we should stick with that. But I think most agree, Hassel needs to grow up and act like a grown-ass man instead of whatever he's doing now.

Not buying it. Big12 road games are tough. There will be some more bumps between now and March.
Agree. The only bad thing about being this good is the target on our back becomes immense and all of the sudden we become every opponent's signature win.

I'll take it, though. The view from up here is really nice.

KenPom has ISU favored in every remaining regular-season game except at Houston on February 22, where a three-point loss is predicted. However, our projected record is still a much more reasonable 25-6 (15-5). The way it works is, you could (for example) be predicted to win every game with 51% odds and your projected winning % would not be 100%, it would be ~50%. A slightly-biased coin doesn't land heads every time, it just lands heads a little more than half the time.

25-6 would be amazing.

Hassel seems to say a lot of things tongue in cheek but I don't listen too much.

I don't even check out many ISU pods any more (are any good ones out there?) and I don't get why so many listen to Hok stuff.

That's interesting. As an Iowa State fan, if you were offered a 25-6 record right now, would you take it? Not sure I would.
