Post-game Cyhawk thread

I haven't watched Iowa this year (because I really don't care) but I thought they looked really good last night. They were shooting lights out, handled our defense pretty well, and played solid defense themselves. I thought their transition defense was really good for most of the game. Over on the Iowa board, the consensus seemed to be they played the best basketball of the season the first 30 minutes

Of course they looked good last night. They have 5 guys from Iowa, plus 2 from moline, and 1 from Peoria. Basically Iowa for those 3 Illinois kids. Their a team of should be UNI kids. Always up for Iowa State to prove a point, and Fran always gets them going at home against us. That might be the best they look that first 25-30 minutes. They are not a very good team, but have the capability to shoot. When that is off they really don’t have much. Unathletic, can’t rebound, and really can’t defend very well.

Just watched for the first time ever "Two Guys"...is this Hassel guy for real or is this an act? CW is calm and cool...relaxed...Hassel feels so forced...cussing and swearing (forced)...I cuss and swear and all...but this guy seems like an act...a poser...annoying! Can't say I would watch this again because of Hassel!

Good chance it’s just an act. And not a very good one. We went from being a ‘lucky’ team to a ’great’ and a ‘complete’ team within less than ten minutes of his rant. His cursing made him sound like a mini-Mad Fran.

Can't say I would watch this again because of Hassel!

I won’t listen to that show cause of Hassel. He’s always reminded me of a snotty 4th grader who thinks he’s dope cause he’s a Hawk.

Somehow he has fans here but I don’t get it

This wasn't a good episode of it imo. He was super butthurt about last night. I normally find him entertaining, but he was going full hawk with the whining about 'lucky' 3s and the officiating somehow being a negative for them.

I think Hassel was playing it up a lot. He knows it wasn’t luck but he’s still trying to troll Iowa State because they won. It’s taken a couple years but you gotta learn how Hassel works and operates. He’s just a troll sometimes

I definitely get he's a troll, more than most others. This just seemed like normal hawk crying.

I think part of his schtick was also taking shots at some of the Iowa fanbase, such as the ones who don’t know about CuJo. Hassel knows CuJo’s talents and skills.

I love what CW has built here, but hassel's act is awful. I don't get it. Talk to people who knew Hassel growing up, and he is just an adult version. He truly hates Iowa State and spends copius amounts of energy floating outright hatred, disingenuous flattery of Iowa State, and is basically condescending to anything ISU. His dad is on the act. CW would be better to distance himself, over the long haul. CW's personal brand, in the long haul, will not be helped by this association.

It's getting to the point now that it's a lot harder to pick out. I'm not sure if he's serious or trolling quite a bit.

Hassel is great IMO. He's trolling because that's his role. His schtick. He doesn't mean most of the **** says when he talks **** about ISU. It works. Because ISU fans on social media sure tune in and get their panties in a wad over everything he says. LOL....

Yep. The more you view him through the lens that he's just trolling most of the time, the more entertaining he is. Especially since half the time he's trolling other hawkeyes too

Hassel has his schtick and was really playing it up today. Some people find it funny and some don’t. But he knows exactly what he’s doing and is not stupid enough to think the refs actually helped us out last night and he’s clearly being sarcastic when he’s talking about us chucking up threes and getting lucky.

As others have pointed out, being sarcastic and being a troll is part of the schtick. I personally don’t love him, but find the podcasts with CW are much more enjoyable when you know he’s not being serious all of the time.

He’s probably the least annoying of the Hawkeye media because the others are less talented (this guy did 5 years at ESPN which is legit) and way more serious and biased.

I agree its a schtick but isnt he accomplished enough not to have to do a schtick? not only him but his dad. Its all cringey. goes from ESPN this weird act.
