Post Camp: Whose stock is up?

Thanks, CW! Nice article!

I know that Wally was talking about developing depth at safety--I took that to mean the younger guys, but would that include Broomfield, too? Or will he be staying mostly at nickel?

Very good evaluation, the other one I would throw in the mix would be Bundrage, listed as a starter at the start on camp, that has not changed, they also mentioned Tiller making plays as well.

Nealy was impressive. He seems to be quite explosive and strong. He bowled over some guys during the scrimmage I saw.

Nice to see two defensive lineman stepping up. Wish we were hearing about Irving on this list.

George looked awesome. We are going to have an awesome linebacker group.

Nealy might be too good to keep off the field.. I could see his role expanding by the end of the season... especially if there's an injury I think the guy getting injured might have a hard time getting his carries back from Nealy.

I hope we don't have an injury to get Nealy more playing time, I'd just rather they found a way to get him on the field like putting him in the slot or something. I admit I haven't seen much film or anything on him...does he have good hands to catch a pass?

I really like Cory Morrissey's story. Wanted to play for ISU but couldn't get an offer out of high school, so he went to a JUCO for a year and earned his offer. He was expected to redshirt this year, but he's done well enough in practice to earn playing time. He certainly appears to be a very motivated guy who loves ISU. Not taking no for an answer and going out and earning what you want are great characteristics for a football player (and for anybody, really).

Its good to see some guys really stepping it up in camp. If we are not competing for every spot on the field we are not improving.

This may be the deepest team we had since the seventies... it may not be the best but definitely the deepest.

Yeah... I too wish we'd see Irving on that list, but I've been warning the Irving kool-aid drinkers all spring and summer long not to expect too much out of him right now. He was a complete project when he arrived here last season. He's still learning the position.

If I could wish for one guy on this team, besides QB, to really take a HUGE step forward this year, it would be Irving. We desperately need a pass rush.

And I would love to see him knocking down passes or making picks with his tremendous wingspan.
