Still a pretty high tide. Months back I was thinking beginning of August would be deep valley, possibly between the much discussed "waves".

Made plans for a big remodeling project based on that guess thinking a bunch of workers in and out of the house for 6/7 weeks during a big valley/lull would be the best I could do for timing in 2020. Not as bad as July but not as good as I had anticipated. On the plus side, most of the trades do a pretty good job of wearing masks and trying to distance. Some though, not so good at it which is annoying since this in my house and the prime has a policies for it.

I had a prime who had a very stringent safety program before COVID ever happened. I was laughing hysterically on the inside when their pitbull receptionist at the site office wouldn't let a very senior City official on site because she didn't have appropriate footwear on. At any time (meaning even not during a pandemic) safety measures can be a pain, but the prime who holds everyone to the standard is doing everyone a favor.

Let the prime know you aren't pleased with particular subs. They should whip them into shape.

Honestly, it seems like masks make one hell of a difference. The numbers for my county, accounting for the delay in symptoms/diagnosis, have dropped in apparent lock-stop with our local mask mandate. Seems like a simple thing...

Seen the same in cities like Lincoln and Omaha. I've also just anecdotally noticed a huge increase in voluntary mask wearing in Iowa. Hopefully that isn't just a phase and we can keep up the vigilance this time while cases go down.

Deaths have been lighter for a couple days. I’m guessing that is due to a large amount of the positive tests are hitting in the younger age brackets which are healthier and can fight it off. So while cases may be not dropping as much, deaths hopefully start tapering off and then numbers start dropping as school keeps working through.

I think this is a microcosm of what is happening in the U.S. Seasonality with the virus, and it’s up against healthier immune systems which lowers CFR overall (which is good news)...and hopefully attaining some areas of burnout, limiting some risk to the most vulnerable.

Long, but interesting thread worth looking at, his thoughts/conclusions at the end are optimistic. This guy has been a good follow through out the pandemic , minus the funny twitter handle.

I think there's something to prior coronaviruses/some immunity but that's all I could get out of that thread that's reliable.

Using sources like this is political you know. Look at his post history, he's not unbiased.

Now we will have people in parking lots huffing Off beside those huffing paint?

I hear Off goes good with Tide pods ;)

If they read the article they will know that the ingredient in this repellent is Citriodiol and Off contains DEET. But if they are eating Tide pods and huffing paint maybe their reading comprehension could use some work.

I think the 3M product has Citriodiol in it, not sure but think it is different than Off. It is oily I know when you put it on.

Cases down to 36K yesterday, largely driven by decreases in states that had previous spikes. Once the virus gets through its easy pathways (e.g., young who don't take precautions) numbers seem to stabilize. hopefully the 20% herd immunity number some posit holds true.

If this is at a camping area maybe it will be right next to the people who spray their kids or tents down with bear spray.

Darwin paradise.
