I like Cane's but I go like once every year or two because no one else in my family likes it. It's good chicken strips. The sauce is tasty but not worth a long drive or a wait.

The fact I love to share though is how freaking profitable they are. If you're going to buy a franchise, RC is about as good as it gets. And just about every one I've ever gone to is slammed no matter the time of day.

For my money, I still don’t understand why there aren’t a million chipotle clones. Reasonably fresh and healthy food, very fast, for affordable prices. Sign me up!

For awhile we lived across the street from a locally owned Greek/Mediterranean equivalent of chipotle. That place was amazing.

I could eat a bowl of mixed protein/grain/veggies every night for the rest of my life and be happy. Just a happy little piggy at the trough

Takis. I don't understand how these are even considered to be "food".

Beef doesn't sit well with me, so I've never had an In-n-Out burger, but I tried their fries once - worst fries in the history of this universe/dimension. Culvers has never failed to make me sick after being outvoted on road trips and been left with no other dining options.

Pepperjacks (glad they closed) was a place I kept hearing positive things about, so we tried it once. Couldn't decide what to get, so I went with chicken nachos. Figured if they can make a decent plate of nachos, they can probably do some other stuff ok. They couldn't make a decent plate of nachos. They sprayed the chips with what I assume to be "lime" but it tasted like Pinesol. Neither the chicken or salsa had any flavor whatsoever. I ate maybe a third of it before I said, "let's go". Absolutely disgusting.

Agree with @MeanDean about coffee. I've said for decades that it tastes like burned water, no matter how sludgy you make it with cream, milk, sugar, whatever. Can't even stand going down the coffee aisle at the store because of the smell.

Diet Pepsi = battery acid. Tried one once at work out of desperation when vendoland was out of anything I might have wanted otherwise. Two sips and the rest went down the drain. Turns out I wasn't as thirsty as I thought I was.

I can agree on the first two. I am not a fungi either on anything.;)

The Heath Bar hate though, may the lord have mercy on your sole. Heath Bar Blizzards are the bomb. You can put heath bar bits in hot chocolate, coffee, on top of desserts.
Agree on Heath. They’re great. But Skor bars are way better

I’ve never had nachos at Pepperjacks so can’t speak to those but their cheesesteaks, burritos and bowls are all decent.

Ribs and bone-in chicken wings - a lot of work and a lot of mess for not much payoff. Have to eat a plateful to know you’ve eaten anything at all. Over rated.
Yes! You reminded me that I hate buffalo wings. I don't get the appeal. All that work and mess for 0.0005 oz of meat.

Also: buffalo sauce. I hate that stuff. I love spicy stuff but buffalo sauce just tastes like acid to me.

Do you have any Naf Nafs near you? Middle Eastern bowls. Absolutely delicious.

Hmmm looked it up and none close to me. And now I’m getting hungry lol.

I’m on the east coast and there’s a chain called Cava that is Mediterranean bowls that I haven’t tried yet (and it’s a little pricey).

We do have a lot of hole in the wall middle eastern places, which are good, but they tend to be a little heavier on the rice and pita than I would prefer.

There’s another bowl chain (more ‘farm to table’ American style food) in NYC called Dig Inn that was absolutely amazing, but I heard they had some money problems and closed a bunch of locations (and all were in NYC as far as I know). I still think about their chicken thigh, farro and squash bowls.

There’s a Cava next to my office and I’ll go there occasionally.

Price-wise maybe a little high I don’t think they’re outrageous. And they never seem to skimp on their pitas - good value in addition to being tasty.

Plus they don’t ask for an additional tip at checkout, so what you see is what you pay +tax. No idea if it’s SOP at all their locations but hopefully that’s a sign they pay their employees well.

I'm a bit surprised with all the Culver's hate, but to each their own. This is a safe place.
I’m fine with Culver’s. Our kids love it and the food seems more fresh than similar options. I’m not a big fast food person anyway, though.

There’s a BK right across the street from the Culver’s in waukee. Culver’s always has a line and BK is a ghost town.

BKs Burgers are far superior to Culvers. But the other aspects Culvers is better.

You are right Culvers is better with freshness.

The problems I have with culvers.
1. Smashburgers SUCK. Talk about ruining a burger. Give me a nice thick juicy flame broiled burger, not a flat, overcooked, wafer thin, pancake of a smashed to hell, meat cracker. Gross.
2. Their need to oversalt everything. I dont want salt on everything. I dont want salt on cheese balls, onion rings etc.
3. Their claim that their cheese balls are Wisconsin style. Their cheese balls are nothing like true WI cheese curds, not even close. I remember going to old drive inns with the same frozen cheese balls decades ago. They are fine, for what they are, but they are not WI style curds in any form.
4. The way you have to order your burgers, I get it to a point, but sometimes I want to just order a signature burger, with unique sauce etc and not have to tell you every single thing I want on it etc.

Culvers is ok, but it is far from my go to, I pretty much choose anything else if there is other options. When I would rather have McDs vs Culvers that says something, because McDs is not good.

But in the DM area if there is a BBops near I choose that for burgers most of the time.

Taco Bell.... low grade dog food in a taco shell.
Ha. I was just about to post the same. My first job out of college I had three coworkers that were new grads as well and those guys wanted to go to Taco Bell all the freaking time.
