So you want to compare a $20 burger to $5 burger? Comparing this burger to a place like BBops or Culvers is not really fair.

Again, put non smashed patties on that burger, and it would be far better than what it is with smashed patties. Just like if I went to another place with $20 burgers, without smashed patties, that would be better than the above. I mean put 2, 1/3 pound, hand formed patties on that burger, and it would not even be close, the smashed burgers would not even come close to measuring up. But those 2 smashed patties might equal 1, 1/3 pound patty, if you are lucky. Then flame grill them instead of grease frying them to a crisp and you take it to another level.

Smashed burgers are just not as good. Period.
No you said “there’s no such thing as a good smash burger” and “they’re all garbage”. I gave you two local examples of smash burgers that rank in the top of DM’s best burger list.

Here’s another one.

Ok, Lets just agree to disagree. And as I said, promo shots are almost never what the actual product put out looks like.

I personally think any burger, with a smash burger, would be better without smash burgers. IMO if you were to replace the smashed patties with regular non smashed patties, and flame grill them, the burger would be FAR superior to what it is with smash burgers. And again, what makes the majority of these "top burgers" is not the burger patties themselves but all the other fixins they put on them etc.

Just because a few smash burgers make the top DM list, doesnt mean smash burgers are superior. A lot of non smashed burgers make that list too, I can post plenty from those top lists that are not smash burgers. BBops is on that list too. If I had to choose between BBops and Culvers, I would choose BBops every time.

As I said, IMO smash burgers SUCK! And the trend to go to them everywhere sucks, but places are going to them, because they are easy and cheap and fast to make.

Panera Bread is the worst. Breads are stale, coffee is weak, prices are too high
Yeah I thought I remembered them being decent when I was younger (like 20 years ago). Then we just recently started getting catering from there for work and it really is not very good at all. Supposedly I read somewhere that private equity bought them out and quality has gone downhill since.

Have you actually tried any of the burgers from the places I’ve posted? Maybe you just haven’t tried a good one yet.

Chick-fil-A. I don't get it. Everyone raves about it. It's just chicken. Also, I can't stand their politics. I have declared a one-man boycott against them. They are also stupid. It's the only restaurant I know of that has a policy of closing on Sunday, and then is stupid enough to establish a store inside an NFL football stadium. Duh! They play on Sundays.

I haven’t had it in years. I only liked their nuggets. Their fries are horrible.

You’re not the only one. Their chicken is average at best. If I’m getting fried chicken, I want chicken with a crunch.

Not even 5Guys? I mean they are pricey but the burgers are decent.

I get it, you like them.

Posting stock promo photos of every smash burger you can find, is not going to change my mind. And no Im not a fan of Five Guys.

Again glad you like them, I dont, sorry that bothers you so much.

Tip: when you post a giant pic, do everyone a favor and click on it and drag the size smaller, so its not such a huge picture taking over the entire page.

I just find it weird. I doubt there’s another living soul that likes burgers that has tried all the options I posted and hated them all.

I legit only want it on Sundays. Usually because that is the day I'm on Delaware in Ankeny going to Home Depot and I see it.

Cheesecake and Casey’s pizza
I used to work for a Casey's during summers. Made pizzas and delivered them. I ate them so much, but I never got sick of them. Even now when I go back to Iowa, I have to get a slice or a lot of slices.
