I worry about WVU still. Both teams will play in your face defense with WVU fouling more. Then Huggins will work the refs to even out the fouls in the second half. That is a game that ISU cannot play with the lack of depth. Huggins will get his fouls and ISU will finish the game with one or more of Walker, Boothe and Steyer on the floor.

I hope I am wrong.

The fact that the league is good seems less relevant to this discussion than that the league is pretty evenly matched (IMO, Baylor is the best team and KU is closer to the rest of the pack). It's possible everyone will land between 5-13 wins. I'm sticking with ISU at 11 wins because I think they're the second-best team in the conference. I'll wait for another team to prove me wrong (which is what usually happens).

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I'm trying to not let last year weigh on me. I feel this team is top half of the Big 12. Since we do home and away with each team, I'm predicting we win at least half of the 18 games. Win some we shouldn't, lose some we shouldn't 9-10 wins isn't unreasonable. Defense is gonna keep us in a lot of games, especially at home!

WV's press will be an issue. ISU has had some issues recently with it. Too many longer passes that get jumped on. Maybe Tre and Hunter together for some time?

6-12 seems WAY too optimistic at this point. I'm going with 4-14.

You're on record in this poll voting for 9-10 wins in December. I think you had poor judgment then and poor judgment now. Now you're claiming 4-14. I think that's unlikely. Things are rarely as bad or as good as they seem so while many in this chain were obviously predicting a winning Big XII record, it was always going to be a tough task for this team that incredibly overachieved in the noncon and made us all proud and surprised early in the season.

I do think their confidence has been shaken tremendously, but they just got through the toughest part of their schedule and the "gauntlet" so to speak. If they can get their confidence up again, and rally, a 7-11 record is still very much attainable and in reach. I voted 7-11 in December and will hold with that now months later.

If this team can finish with 20 regular season wins, which I think is still attainable, we should be all be pleased. Taking a bigger, broader view in life and taking a step back will help you see this season has been a success so far in spite of recent struggles.

And if it doesn't work out, March is a great month to start getting outside more and getting ready for the awakening ahead.

To be fair, we looked like a 9-10 win team back when i made this prediction. The conference has exposed us and shown that we are not a 9-10 win team and have a horrible offense. Sure, the toughest part of our schedule is behind us, but after getting beat up and embarrassed by WVU, I don't see how winning 4 more games will happen unless things change a lot. WVU is supposed to be the second worst team in the conference and if we got blown out by them, I won't forecast another win. Maybe I'm being too negative, but this losing streak is rough and we just seem to be getting worse each game.

BTW, when was the last time the football & basketball team have been rated in the top 10 & both fallen out of the ratings in the same year? I’m thinking never. When was the last time the football, basketball & women’s basketball teams have all been in the top 10 in the same year? I’m thinking never.

I'm voting 8-10, we go 6-3 in Hilton, lose to Baylor and Kansas, then some other random team like TCU like we seem to do every year because we jsut are off that day.
We go 2-7 on the road, win at TCU and Oklahoma State.
We go 1-1 in KC, then get a 7 seed in the NCAA tourney.
Wow, looks like my prediction was almost spot on. It's probably not happening though, we would need to run the table in Ames then win at TCU.

Reflection from 500 votes in December for estimated B12 wins, 50% of the board picked 7-8 wins.
