Glad you guys discussed the McCarney game. You're right no one was there, but it was a special moment rushing the field and carrying off McCarney. He was clone to the bone.
So many memories of the tornado game. Earlier I was in Blairsburg for the 8 man semifinal game my brother was playing in. There were massive storms across hwy 20 so the bus with the team came south down 69 to HWY 30 instead of going across hwy 20. Brother got a cool picture of the tornado from the bus window with his cell phone.
My buddy and I were tailgating along the golf course fence east of the intramural fields drunk and eating bbq when the sirens went off. Everybody out there pretty much told the campus police off when they told us to vacate and take cover. Our plan was to jump the fence and hide in a green side bunker. Seemed like a good idea on vodka.
Watching Mason Crosby kick 60 yard field goals that were landing on the roof of the Jacobson building and my buddy running down to the fence by section 1 to scream profanities at Gary Barnett after the game are still my favorite memories of the game.
