Playoffs

No, I have stated all season long that the B12 is only a one bid league and was just trying to come up with a way for them to get two teams in, which is not going to happen. There is too much money on the table to allow a 2nd B12 team in, when the B10 and SEC are calling the shots, even with the SEC having a subpar year.
If ISU had one loss or less at this point they would be in even with a CCG loss.

I'm not so sure. Last week pretty brand Miami was 6 and lesser brand SMU was 9.

Is #9 SMU in for sure with a loss next week?

Miami surely would have been at #6 if they took care of Syracuse but their season of close calls and replay help caught up with them.

Holy Moses. If ISU ends up playing at Penn State that would be awesome. Franklin notoriously coaches poorly in big games, and I think ISU can win that game
On a neutral site I think we have a good shot. They have a real home field advantage though, probably toughest we've played in.

That's why strength of schedule doesn't matter - just win games. Look at Indiana, if you are 11-1 in a P4 conf you are a lock, no matter how dogsh!t your schedule was. Schedule cupcakes and play 8 conf games.

They had Tulane ahead of ISU, KSU and BYU even though Tulane's resume, SOR, and SOS is dog$hit compared to those teams and almost no computer ranking has Tulane ahead of any of them. It's not like Tulane was undefeated or even one loss, they had the same record as ISU and BYU.
LOL, it's even more insane re-reading it and re-watching the committee. Putting the Big 12 in the 6th spot is the single most brazen thing you could ever do to openly f*ck over a power conference.

We've never had a representational # of big known personalities on the committee. Not even with Texas and OU in the fold.

Some of the early committees were so stacked with Big Ten legends we'd need to have Bill Snyder, Dan McCarney and Barry Sanders if we wanted even representation. Outspoken and legendary guys with a clear bias toward our conference. It's gotten a little better but it's still obvious some years looking at the makeup.

Texas is going to lose their CCG and ISU will get to play in Austin the week after Dallas. Book it.

Caveat that we NEED TO WIN BIG 12...

@texas is easy same time zone travel and fewer unknowns than many other options. I'd take it.

I wouldn't be thrilled about playing @ super angry horseshoe vs Ohio State, that's probably my least wanted draw. I could see Texas overlooking us, Ohio State isn't going to overlook anybody as angry as they are.

We have several this year, probably more than other conference, and we aren't getting any help.

Oregon
Penn State
Ohio State
Indiana
Texas
Georgia
Tennessee
Notre Dame
MWC champion
Big XII champion
ACC champion

That‘s it. They’re in. All the drama comes down to the spot remaining, between Alabama/Miami/ACC loser if it’s SMU/maybe South Carolina or Ole Miss.
Deserved or not, SMU is in. If Clemson somehow beats them in the ACC CCG, they're squeezing someone out from the SEC.

Does anyone think how anticlimactic it is to be a 9-12 seed and play a road game at like Ohio state on December 20, lose and just be done for the year?

Versus getting the bye and playing in the quarterfinals in an actual bowl game (fiesta , rose, peach, sugar) on Jan 1.

Or
Versus going to the Alamo bowl or an Orlando also.

Want to make the playoffs but that true road game and losing (most likely option) would be rough is all.
Just never thought about this till now

Big 12 is very, very, very likely getting 1 team in.

The only possible route for 2 would be Arizona State somehow leapfrogging the three-loss SEC teams ahead of them (all of them won today, with USC winning ranked game against Clemson), Miami dropping behind ASU with their loss, SMU beating Clemson in the ACC title, AND then the committee not punishing ASU for losing in the B12 championship. I don’t see it personally.

I think you’re looking at

SEC: Texas, Georgia, Tennessee
B10: Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana
Notre Dame
MWC: Boise State or UNLV
B12: ASU or ISU
ACC: SMU I think is a lock at this point

Last spot up for grabs between Miami, Bama, South Carolina. All 3 get bumped if Clemson beats SMU

It's going to be a 3 loss SEC team.

But how can a 2 loss SMU be in the conversation but a 2 loss BYU is not?

I don’t think Notre Dame is that good. We would be huge underdogs but if NIU can win in South Bend, there’s no reason to think he have no shot. I want that matchup way more than the other possibilities. Anyone thinking we are hosting a game is on crack.

Wait … but if Clemson wins Iowa State has a shot at the bye.

I guess we want UNLV and SMU to win, then
We definitely want UNLV to win. Boise State is the biggest screw job in the committee's rankings.

With their near miss against Oregon, Boise has squeezed about 20 pints of blood from a tiny pebble of a stone. Sagarin, for example, rates them #35. Their best wins are against Sagarin #44 UNLV #68 Washington State and #99 Oregon State.
