This whole thing is made for TV in consultation with the teams. I bet they avoid rematches and conference matchups. They are making up the rules and the matchups so they might as well keep it interesting.
Personally, I wouldn't mind losing and going 2-1 this tournament but having Tamin sit and be ready for Purdue. Rather than trying to pick up another 'big win' this early.

I think the consolation games are fluid. If Oregon or Bama ISU plays Wednesday evening
UNLV automatically plays Thursday regardless where they finish(except if they made title or 3rd place game)
I mean, its called "Gambling".
If you want to Gamble, then you have nothing to cry about if you lose.
If you cant handle or afford to lose you should not gamble.
Gambling to make money is not a sound retirement plan.
You have to think they are going to try and get big matchups out of this, so Houston and Bama is almost a guarantee as a top 10 matchup. I think we'll get Auburn.
