There had to be at least 2 hawkeyes. On flight to Vegas this was the breakdown of fans wearing gear: 9 Cyclones (including me), 6 Michigan, 4 Tennessee, 2 Notre Dame, 2 Syracuse, 1 Virginia, 1 St John's, 1 Oregon. 0 everyone els
ChatGPT's prediction vs St. John's. I'll take it!
Prediction
Given everything, I lean toward Iowa State in this game.
- Their continuity and chemistry give them a slight edge early in the season over a talented but newer St. John’s group.
- Lipsey’s leadership and playmaking, combined with Jefferson’s all-around game, could be just enough to withstand SJU’s offensive firepower.
- On the other hand, if St. John’s gets hot early (especially Hopkins and Jackson) and Ejiofor dominates the boards, they absolutely have a path to win.
Projected Score:
Iowa State 92 — St. John’s 88
I see it being a high-tempo, back-and-forth game, but ISU makes just enough plays down the stretch to pull away by a few.
Has us beating Creighton 83-78 as well, FYISkyNet for the win!

Think what we did to Houston last year and then think of the games against lesser opponents that were closer than we thought they should be.Seeing this in visual form, ISU sure got a ****** draw. Even if we can win both games, point differential has come into play in the past to decide championship game participants. Getting two good teams rather than some of the down teams in this field will make it hard to win it all
The singularity loves the Clones. I, for one, welcome our sports prediction overlords!Has us beating Creighton 83-78 as well, FYI![]()
and upon seeing someone in Cyclone gear outside the state of Iowa, one had to shout out "go hawks'. LOLThere had to be at least 2 hawkeyes.
Kinda weird that if you’re battling for 8th place and don’t make that cutoff you’ll have to find a different MTE on like 8 months notice. Typically those agreements are signed years in advance.More info from SBJ about the Big 12's future tie-in with this event:

Big 12 to get investment stake in Players Era Festival
The Big 12 is set to announce a five-year deal to take a 15% equity stake in Players Era, along with a minimum guarantee from annual revenues.www.sportsbusinessjournal.com
The Big 12 is set to announce a five-year deal to take a 15% equity stake in the Players Era Festival, along with a minimum guarantee from annual revenues, those involved with the agreement told Sports Business Journal. The equity stake begins immediately, while the minimum guarantee will begin with next year’s event.
As part of the deal, the Big 12 will receive eight bids to the Players Era tournament when it expands to 32 teams next season. Those teams will be selected based on conference standings from the previous year.
Seth Berger, CEO of Players Era and the former founder of And1, noted the tournament is also set to put $50M-plus into Big 12 basketball programs in rights fees as part of the deal slated to be announced on Monday.
I need someone to explain to me how this event can ever possibly MAKE money with the insane guarantees. We know it's not in ticket sales and I'd be shocked if WBD was paying anything noticeable in rights fees. The whole thing is just odd to me.

The Acrisure Series in Palm Springs is going big too. 18 teams this year and they also want to get to 32 for next year and have signed some schools to long term contracts. If they make it (and honestly already basically there) the premier mid-season tournament/event it'll be worth a ton of money. NBA's mid season tournament added $1B a year to their media right deal supposedly.
I think this is gonna suffocate the other MTEs and we'll have the Big 3 (Players Era, Maui, Battle4Atlantis) and the rest will whither away, maybe some like the NIT tip off survive but the Charleston Classic is likely not.
