All I know is Iowa is not the caliber of team to be invited and Iowa State is. that’s all I care.

- Their continuity and chemistry give them a slight edge early in the season over a talented but newer St. John’s group.
- Lipsey’s leadership and playmaking, combined with Jefferson’s all-around game, could be just enough to withstand SJU’s offensive firepower.
- On the other hand, if St. John’s gets hot early (especially Hopkins and Jackson) and Ejiofor dominates the boards, they absolutely have a path to win.

Seeing this in visual form, ISU sure got a ****** draw. Even if we can win both games, point differential has come into play in the past to decide championship game participants. Getting two good teams rather than some of the down teams in this field will make it hard to win it all.
Think what we did to Houston last year and then think of the games against lesser opponents that were closer than we thought they should be.
Would be ecstatic if we won it all, but even if we win all three and don’t make it in the finals it wouldn’t be all bad. Let the chips fall where they may.

I need someone to explain to me how this event can ever possibly MAKE money with the insane guarantees. We know it's not in ticket sales and I'd be shocked if WBD was paying anything noticeable in rights fees. The whole thing is just odd to me.
The NCAA tournament gets $900 million per year in its TV deal. This is of course not the NCAA tournament, but a 32 team field should justify a pretty good deal with WBD.
If they make it (and honestly already basically there) the premier mid-season tournament/event it'll be worth a ton of money. NBA's mid season tournament added $1B a year to their media right deal supposedly.
I think this is gonna suffocate the other MTEs and we'll have the Big 3 (Players Era, Maui, Battle4Atlantis) and the rest will whither away, maybe some like the NIT tip off survive but the Charleston Classic is likely not.

So, should we be attending those time share sales presentations? Seems like we’re going to spend most Thanksgivings in LV.
The Acrisure Series in Palm Springs is going big too. 18 teams this year and they also want to get to 32 for next year and have signed some schools to long term contracts.
Maui is more or less dead and B4A probably hangs on because the geography and guarantees are better than Maui.
As for the Players Era, even if they get a low 9 figure TV deal, which seems like the very top line, they've already got at least half of that out the door and they haven't even touched other expenses. I'm sure there's something I'm missing but I can't make it work in my head.
