Players Era

I find it hard to believe they're making enough money to cover these expenses.

Seems they are trying to sign a new TV deal to cover expenses of prior year commitments to the schools. That’s a bad sign.

It’ll be interesting if the financial commitments drop next year to participating schools. And if those drop to a sustainable level, will it be so much that they lose interest and the TV partners bail? Where is that line between sustainable payouts and TV interest? Cause the NCAA tournament doesn’t struggle to pull in huge amounts of money. So shouldn’t a Thanksgiving week tournament bring in 5-10% of that?

right which is why i wonder the long term sustainability of this event and teams desire to participate

i get why schools like ISU have to go to this event, if the money is legitimate
but if its all a fugazi and we're footing the bills of flight, hotel, etc. and not being paid the promised $1m
we need to just go back to normal MTEs like Maui, Atlantis, ETC
No just need to schedule 3 stateside home and homes or Neutral site games. Cost of going and uncertainty of who you will play is not worth it anymore. Control who you play every game is most important

Uconn, Duke and Arizona did this

multiple high major games home, away or neutral
zero bracketed events though

I'll just say this. I attended the games out in Las Vegas with my dad, and we had a blast. Format aside, there were so many Cyclone fans there, and it was just a great time to hang out and watch legit good basketball games in the month of November.

I will 100% be going back out there again this fall, and I would highly recommend it for those who love college basketball like me. And cmon, it is in Vegas.

2026 Players Era trophy and cash prize will be awarded to a participating or non-participating team, regardless of game results, based on overall vibes.
