Syracuse being out of their minds from deep is probably the only way they beat us. So of course...

TJ may have already offered to make up for the $200k.Ah but it's not meaningless. The mistake is screwing teams who performed the same out of more $$.
My biggest issue is with the windfall teams got for "qualifying" for the top 4 place games. If they had used the same criteria to set the 3rd games and then pay out let's say 500k extra for champ, 300k for 2nd, 200k for 3rd, 150k for 4th, 125k for 5th, 100k for 6th and so on so that it adds up to the additional 2 mil, I don't think they would have had as much hate. But when it's 1 million for the 3-0 first place team and 0 for a potentially 3-0 fifth place team, strength of opponent should matter. Seems like it would be pretty easy to incorporate Kenpom/Torvik type metrics into it, which would also allow lesser teams to win upsets and qualify for the place games.Agree with this take ^^^.
I don’t personally love the format, but it is what it is. Great addition to the NIL coffers, great exposure, good experience for the team. If we come out 3-0 with Tamin only playing one game that’s a huge success.
My big issue with the format is not the point differential but the lack of transparency. There was WAY too much bad information online from normally respected media outlets an even official athletics sites for teams participating in the tournament. You have to assume that information came from somewhere reliable at some point.
Yeah man, the whole tournament is a conspiracy against ISU! The entire thing was built around hurting ISU to prop up Kansas. All to keep ISU out of a meaningless 3rd place game.I hate to keep harping on it, but the whole thing was a setup to get bluebloods playing in the "finals" for more eyeballs.
Yeah, let's put ISU up against the defending Big East Champs and a 2 seed last year, followed by Creighton who is a perennial NCAA team and then Kansas versus 2 teams that have been nowhere near the NCAA for 4 years now. And then to top it off, let's make score differential a determining factor.
Who the **** did they think would have a higher score differential considering the opponent quality?
Iowa St knew the rules. Iowa St knew two teams had already maxed out point differential. Iowa St chose to hold the ball for the last six seconds instead of chasing one point that would virtually guarantee a spot in the top five with a lead in the next tie-breaker category but yeah go on.I hate to keep harping on it, but the whole thing was a setup to get bluebloods playing in the "finals" for more eyeballs.

I never said it was a conspiracy against Iowa St. Im saying it was setup to get Kansas into the "finals" by giving them a joke of a bracket the first 2 games.Yeah man, the whole tournament is a conspiracy against ISU! Get a grip dude.
It's not meaningless! All to keep ISU out of a meaningless 3rd place game.
Had Iowa State drawn lesser opponents, you'd have complained about 'setting up matchups to hurt Iowa State's resume'.I hate to keep harping on it, but the whole thing was a setup to get bluebloods playing in the "finals" for more eyeballs.

As opposed to Kansas' path of 2 low Q2 wins (at best) and likely getting stomped by Tennessee. It's not meaningless!
You guys that think that arent looking at the big pictute. Not only did we miss out on NIL money, but we also missed out on a potential signature win against a Q1-A opponent instead of Syracuse.
This tourney played out perfect for ISU. We couldn’t have asked for a better week. Time to put aside the inferiority complex, quit whining about our matchups and enjoy a wildly successful trip to Vegas.I never said it was a conspiracy against Iowa St. Im saying it was setup to get Kansas into the "finals" by giving them a joke of a bracket the first 2 games.
When the matchups were announced Notre Dame and Syracuse would have been 2 of the weaker teams in the whole thing. Neither one are projected or have even been to the tournament in years.
Getting your panties in a bunch over $200 K in NIL money and complaining endlessly about the matchups Kansas drew is not “looking at the big picture.” It’s whiny, insufferable negativity. It's not meaningless!

I don't think getting more money as a group pulls a team apart though. But I can't argue with today's results.I think he played it right. He needs to talk about then team aspect. The easiest/fastest thing to pull a team apart is money. A coach should not address that in public or with the team. It’s an individual discussion
It's not meaningless!
