Player comparisons

I read Hines article this morning where he called Niang an unathletic guy with an old mans game haha

I remember Niang himself saying that when Fred recruited him he told him he could end up being a Kevin Love kind of player. Not a bad comparison right there. Pretty good sized guy with some good post moves, but could also hit the 3 point shot too. I don't think Niang is as good from 3 as Love is, but maybe he could get there?

JJ Redick isn't a bad comparison for Thomas, although I think Thomas is going to prove to be a more physical player than Redick in that he will be able to drive and post up at times IMO.

Hogue could be a Scottie Pippen kind of player maybe? Great defender, good rebounder, and kind of long.

Not sure about Kane yet. I need to see him play more.

Comparing to former Iowa State players -

Stevie Johnson is a poor man's Ejim
Tasheed Carr - Naz Long
Reggie George - Percy Gibson
Adam Haluska - Matt Thomas
Howard Eaton - Dustin Hogue
Ron Harris/Jake Anderson - DeAndre Kane
Greg Hester - Tyler Ellerman
Niang is everything we hoped Cory Johnson would have been
Jerry Curry - KJ Bluford
Hornacek - Monte Morris

Someone remind me....who is Reggie George? Percy doesn't remind me of anybody, which is unfortunate.

Who do our guys games compare most to?

DeAndre Kane = Stacey Augmon UNLV late 80's

Matt Thomas = Fred Hoiberg, ISU mid-90's

Melvin Ejim = Kenny Pratt, ISU mid-90's

Georges Niang = Brian Cardinal, Purdue late 90's, and rec ballers across America

Monte Morris = From what I've seen on Youtube and what I've read about him taking care of the ball, I could see his game mimicking Phil Pressey, Mizzou from the last three years

KJ Bluford = Definitely Jeff Elorriaga, Boise St from the last three years. We could see him at the Diamond Head Tournament this season.

Percy Gibson = If he maxed out his potential he kind of reminds me of another lefty C, Othella Harrington, Georgetown mid-90's. That may be a huge stretch since Harrinton averaged like 13 and 7. Both crafty lefties though.

SDW, Naz, Hogue, Edozie = haven't seen enough of them to make a comparison.

I know you're comparing their "game" and not necessarily their abilities, bu Adam Hawkluska will wish he could have shot the ball as well as Matt Thomas will shoot it. Hawkluska's best year from 3pt range was approx 38%.
