Player comparisons

It's unfortunate to see Percy get ragged on so bad on this. He has been a decent player for us and a good student off the court. He didn't improve last season, so now it's cool to bash the kid? ISU has had far worse players on the court than Percy Gibson (who has only played 2 years), including Reggie George.

DeAndre Kane = Stacey Augmon UNLV late 80's

Matt Thomas = Fred Hoiberg, ISU mid-90's

Melvin Ejim = Kenny Pratt, ISU mid-90's

Georges Niang = Brian Cardinal, Purdue late 90's, and rec ballers across America

Monte Morris = From what I've seen on Youtube and what I've read about him taking care of the ball, I could see his game mimicking Phil Pressey, Mizzou from the last three years

KJ Bluford = Definitely Jeff Elorriaga, Boise St from the last three years. We could see him at the Diamond Head Tournament this season.

Percy Gibson = If he maxed out his potential he kind of reminds me of another lefty C, Othella Harrington, Georgetown mid-90's. That may be a huge stretch since Harrinton averaged like 13 and 7. Both crafty lefties though.

SDW, Naz, Hogue, Edozie = haven't seen enough of them to make a comparison.

I believe you mean, the janitor.

Took some time and racked my brain to come up with which past/current NBA players our guys have SIMILAR games to. Keep that in mind cause I'm definitely not comparing talent level or production by any means. Surprised by how difficult it was to come up with a good comparison on a few of our guys yet easily thought of multiple for others. I think this list is pretty accurate but would be interested to hear what everybody thinks.

Kane - Gary Payton, Baron Davis
Thomas - Fred Hoiberg, Klay Thompson
Hogue - Jeff Green
Ejim - Charles Barkley, Chuck Hayes
Niang - Luis Scola, Kevin Love, David West
Morris - Rajon Rondo
Long - Jeremy Lin
Gibson - Darko Milicic
Dorsey-Walker - Kevin Martin
Bluford - Monta Ellis, Jamal Crawford
Nader - Paul George, Anthony Davis (based solely on a few YouTube videos)
Edozie - haven't seen enough
Ellerman - haven't seen enough

No. Thomas is not a point guard or a Canadian.

My time was the mid 80's. So most here will probably won't remember this, and I know I will probably get shot....but the new players i.e. Morris, Thomas, SDW, Long and Hogue remind me a lot of B.J. Armstrong, Roy Marble, Jeff Moe, Bill Jones and Ed Horton of Iowa. I know....they were Hacks, Crows whatever you call them....but outside of our 99'-00' team, that group became one of the best teams this state has produced, and like our team with Fizer and Tinsley...should have made the final 4 in 86-87. I think this group with Niang and the return of Ejim could be special this year. You add Nadar, Custer and now JM from Marquette......! Makes falls and winters here once again something in which to look forward.
