Pellet grills

Was actually coming on here to ask about smoking a Turkey. I'll take a look at the video above.

I have a GMG Daniel Boone. Would like to do a test run in the next week or two and see if I can potentially do it for my family on Thanksgiving.
Any further tips and advice? I'm new to the whole smoking process. Thanks!

And yes you would need poultry shears. It's far to difficult to do it with regular kitchen shears (I know from experience)

My results were mixed, I smoked at 260 and regret it, think I should have been at least 275-300. Overall the flavor was good, the meat both dark and white seemed a bit dry and found the skin to be tough. I only had time to brine for 12 hours and used a mixture of apple juice and whiskey for the mop, next time it will be butter.
Total cook time was 5.5 hours (until breast reached 165 F)

I'm firing up my new Traeger Junior Elite tomorrow. After the seasoning run, I'm going to make a batch of beef jerky. I have it marinating in the refrigerator right now.

I've got the jerky smoking right now. But for lunch, I smoked some nice NY strips for 30 mins and then turned the heat up to high. Once it got to 450 I flipped them and let them cook another 12ish minutes.

Holy crap. The smoke flavor was amazing and they were delicious. I'll probably take them off a few minutes earlier next time since they were cooked a little past medium rare, but wow is all I can say.

Anybody in central IA buy cow? Just looking for suggestions on where to buy from as I am thinking about getting a 1/4.

I've had a Traeger for around twelve years and it has worked really well for us. Having said that, it is beginning to have troubles. While it's fairly simple to replace anything that can go wrong on a Traeger, it seems like repairs are beginning to happen too frequently (besides two auger replacements, I've had to replace the fan motor and heating element recently). As such, I'm in the market for a new smoker and am intrigued by the Green Mountain, primarily due to the wi-fi control.

To anybody who owns one, have you had good luck? Are they well built/reliable?

I've only had my GMG for about 9mos now, and it was my first pellet grill. But I love it. I've always heard good things about their customer service. Mine has the WiFi device, which is real convenient. I'm going to be smoking a turkey tonight. Hope to share some pics.

I love my Rec Tec. I just upgraded to the wifi controller from the new Rec Tecs and plan on installing it soon. Great customer service.

I have had my Daniel Boone going on 4 years now. It sets outside year round I just keep the cover on it. When i got mine the WiFi has fairly new. Since I was new to the pellet grill, it took some time to get used to. Nothing but A+ service from their support group. The updated me to the WiFi controller for nothing as I was having temp variation issues from the start. They gave me a new heat shield as they came out with a new version. I just called and they told me they would send me a new and 3 days later it showed up. No charge.

I really like the WiFi. I can calibrate temps. You can set it according to the weather, cold, warm, hot in regards to pellet usage. I like the fact you can set up profiles for different cooks.

I have even temps left and right! I added a second cook shelf and a front shelf. I cook 2-3 times a week on it and reverse sear steaks on it and have done burgers on it also. Go for it!!

Any tips on how to connect the Green mountain to my home network? I've tried a dozen times and customer service is a bit slow .

Milo Locker is moving to Indianola, summer 2019. Changing its name but will have same owners and same quality.
Really? Just dropped a deer off there today. That is about the last business left on Main Street. That will be a big blow to Milo once they leave.
