Parking for Saturday

Are there any university, TV weather or DOT webcams that anyone knows about where you can get a real time view of some of the parking lots to see how full they are getting in the morning to help navigate which one to go to? Like weather or traffic cam on the stadium or anything??

The only thing I know is that if you have a pass for a donor lot, you are guaranteed a space in that lot regardless of what time you get there. I'm still planning on being way early...just not oh dark thirty early. :D

Are there a bunch of Ubers/Lyfts around Ames on Gamedays? I need to get to Huxley for the game but want to tailgate.

Will I be looking at ridiculous surge pricing ?
CloneinWDSM, call/Text me at 5152490309 and I will take you to Huxley. I don’t know about the price whether surge or not but I know cell reception usually is bad during Game day. I will let you pay me what you think is fair for the trip. Later.

Sonofa! I love how the rules keep changing as the week has progressed. So, no GA parking in G2 or G3, now?

Not so fast, my friend ... I wish that were true, KC. As I noted earlier in the thread, we were turned away from G7 at the previous Iowa game, and it wasn't an issue of some of the lot being unusable. Plan to get to town about 11 am tomorrow -- crossing my fingers I'll be able to park in G7.

I think a lot of it depends on the staff directing parking. Sometimes they really pay attention and make you park pretty close together, other times they dont pay any attention at all and vehicles park pretty far apart. I've even seen people set up tailgates in spots next to their vehicles. They need to be on top of their **** tomorrow because I bet every single pass will get used.

Anyone up there have an update on grass lot parking? I have gotten word there was way more RV's than expected and things may be shuffling, but both of the guys I heard it from aren't normally at games and know how things go. I'm planning to be up there just before 6AM and wanting to get in G4 like normal, but any grass lot is fine honestly.

Pollard said on the radio the lots should be dry for parking if that's your concern. Not sure about the other stuff.

Drove down 16th at @6:30 pm. G8 lots were all full of campers already. Staging had started in G4 for campers going into Vet Med lots. Could not tell if they were staging cars yet for G2/G3 lots

G8 is already full?

What is this in reference to?
"G3 (Iowa game only)
Fans wanting to park RVs in the Vet Med lot for the Iowa State/Iowa game will line up Friday afternoon from 1:30pm-5:30pm in lots G4/G5. Vehicles staged in this lot will move across S. 16th street up to Vet Med starting at 5:30pm. Fans wanting to park in lots G2/G3 for the game will line up in lot G4 from 6:30pm-midnight. Vehicles staged in this lot will move across S. 16th street to lots G2/G3 prior to the public lots opening on Saturday, Sept. 14th." From the ISU Priority Parking page.

That paragraph has changed a few times over the past week. I thought that the grass lots were all general parking. RV Parking has lots in the parking area, plus the Vet Med lots. The other lots were supposed to be something you could not queue up for until 3 AM Saturday. Now we have G2 & G3 being filled early. That's what has me a bit miffed.

Gotcha gotcha, yeah that makes sense. I thought I was going crazy and not remembering things correctly either. Just hope I can get a spot somewhere!

The best you can do is to hit up 511ia.org and look at the DOT cams on 35 and 30.

Traffic is going to be hell tomorrow but it will be epic.

I dunno, with a 3pm kick there will be hours of people coming in, it wont be like that game a few years ago at 11 where it was a disaster from 7-8 am.
