Pacquiao v. Mayweather

This is a match up that is happening 5 years too late. I'm talking about fights that were happening instead of this, as one or the other dodged each other.

It is too late. But it will still be the biggest fight of all time both box-office and PPV wise.

Not sure if we are going to pay for it yet (I've never bought a fight before) or try and find a bar and pay a cover to watch.

There are plenty of places if you dig deep enough that will have it available for stream online. Either that or drive to Mexico where the entire country gets it for free.

Was talking to the owner of a small establishment in Grimes today. Their place I would guess holds 50 people and they were going to be charged $4,000. He said he would have to charge each patron that walks in a minimum of $50.00 to recoup half the cost and hope they drink enough to cover the difference and come out a little ahead.

Makes me wonder what Twin Peaks is getting charged with their 200+ capacity...

Before you shell out the dough, have a listen to Frank Deford's take on this "event".

Weird. His point about the lighter divisions being more popular than the heavies is a couple decades late. The heavyweight division has been solid dogcrap for 20+ years and in the late 90s and early 00s we had another golden era of lighter guys with fighters like Trinidad, De La Hoya, Mosley, Quartey, Vargas, Barrera, Morales, Castillo, among others all fighting each other. So it's not like it's some new thing that the heavies are ignored. And the guy is seriously kidding himself if he doesn't think Pac is capable of knocking guys out.

Boxing is dumb and I feel bad for the suckers that are going to pay for this. I might watch it online if there is absolutely nothing else on.
