seriously, i've never seen anyone as over sensitive as you. Its an opinion, stop crying like a little ***** holding a grudge. Jeeze i've seen 5 year olds act more mature than you.

anyways back to my statement. P90x seems like its a step away from a jazzercise session by richard simmons. With some research you could setup a workout plan without having to look like those people in step aerobics. If it works for you, great, but there are many other ways to get fit and i personally don't want my way to consist of watching a dude on tv telling me to tighten my *** cheeks.

Youve obviously never done it before then. You make it sound like its a cake walk, which it certainly is not. If done right, P90X is extremely effective for building muscle and establishing a lifestyle conducive to being healthy. You could easily go to a gym, pound your No-Explode and protein, crank out an hour of weights, have your buddy in his spandex and cut off tee spot your bench press while you grunt and be a bulky beefcake as opposed to a lean muscle machine like P90X works towards. Obviously, P90X is not for everyone. You need a lot of time, a lot of patience and a lot of persistence...and a bit of joy in pain

Get yourself a GOOD bicycle and start to ride. Do'nt go crazy at first , just a few miles. Pretty soon you will be doing 10 miles 5 nights a weeks.Eventually if you miss a day you will start to feel bad and it will just become a way of life. Throw in some weight lifting after a while and a high protein diet and you'll be set.

Just a point - you can certainly go to the gym and get the same results you'd get from P90X. You just have to lift differently than you would if you're trying to put on mass. And obviously your diet is a huge factor.

There's no such thing as "lean muscle". All muscle is lean. It's the fat that covers it that isn't :)

But there is a difference between fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers. Like dark and light meat on a chicken. Power lifting only gets you bulky muscles that are only good for a few seconds of work. Endurance workouts get you toned muscle that works for a lot longer than that.

Like I said, it depends on the type of lifting you do. If you do more reps with less weight, it will work more on enhance muscle endurance than it will building strength and size.

You can certainly achieve the same results that you get from p90x in the gym with a properly designed weightlifting workout. There's nothing magic about P90X. It's just a well designed program.

I think it's really sad on my part that I actually have to get myself in shape before I can even seriously consider doing P90X...

its not a cake walk, but what workout is supposed to be a cake walk? i just don't like it for the fact that your watching a tv on a guy telling you what to do, much like those tae boe things girls buy. like i said, if you like it great, I'm just not a fan of it after trying it out to see what the rave was

Thats probably your problem.

that was referring to crossfit, it required a massive amount of decently weighted squats/deadlifts/running, not used to that much intensity and after being fatigued and legs feel like jello i kept trying to push it out i messed up my form on a deadlift and boom, sciatica. The intensity was a lot different than i was used to, pushed myself too far and i paid the price for it. Not to say that its bad, just when your not used to it and it mentions to pump things like 21 pullups/ 21 dips /21 squats/21 burpees/run 400m and repeat 5 times as fast as possible, your going to get worn out a lot faster than you think you would. Going balls out the first round will just take longer to finish all the rounds. Hence why its better to take it easier and pace to start out with to know your limits.

p90x you need not to worry about that since there is no substantial weight on you to injure yourself like that.

I don't like crossfit because you're watching a trainer telling you what to do, much like those classes girls go to.

Somebody reply to my post. Things like p90x ect.. that you see on infomercials may work for a few people that can actually stand to do them every day, but if you start cycling you just put on your music and ride.

And that would work for people who want to ride 10 miles a night, what's the difference?

Except when it's raining. Or except when it's miserably hot outside. Or except when it's miserably cold outside. And that's all given that you've got a good trail system to ride on, otherwise you're taking your life into your own hands on the public roads most places.

And let's not forget that bicycling is going to work a handful of muscles (mostly lower body), and cardio, while P90X is going to work pretty much every muscle in your body in addition to a reasonable cardio workout. P90X is more than just exercises, though. It's a whole system that you really have to follow in order to get results. And if you follow it you'll get results.

Hey whatever works for you, though. I do a little bit of everything, but have nothing against Insanity or P90X or any of those style workouts.

I thought it was against the law for cyclists to wear headphones (not that it stops me, but I'm pretty sure it is. Also think driving a car with headphones is illegal but not 100% sure).

Raining there isn't much you can do. Biking is my go-to training when it is hot because I can carry water. It's never too cold during an Iowa summer to bike. Until there's snow on the ground, you can bike. Bike intelligently and you don't have issues with cars (I've put in about 2,000 miles this year on my bike), mostly in Ames.

The vast majority of people could never put together a workout program that would deliver the same results as P90x in the same amount of time. I know I couldn't. I just don't have the time or desire to spend countless hours researching something that a professional has already done for me.
