One-Hit Wonders

Snow-Informer was huge when I was 19 on campus at Iowa State. Every frat party played it like 3 times a night and everyone tried to sing the words.

Anyway Mine are

Rappers Delight
Devinals - I touch myself.

Rappers delight cannot be considered, sugarhill gang was not a one hit wonder group.

You may have heard this a few times at ISU events:

Sugarhill Gang Apache (Jump On It) - YouTube

Not sure I could rank my favorites, but a few "Classic" 1-Hitters (only the tip of the iceberg):

"Stuck in the Middle With You," Stealers Wheel

"96 Tears," ? and the Mysterians

"Tainted Love," Soft Cell

"Cars," Gary Numan (if you assume US charts -- actually had a ton of charting singles in UK)

Have you ever heard the long version of this? It just keeps going and going. I think it is like 9-11 minutes long.

Would this even have been considered a hit? I've been a Guster fan for years & I would think their biggest "hit" over the years would probably be "Fa Fa".

Guster - Fa Fa - YouTube

It's a hit in my book; I love that song. The guitars are so...lush.

Has anyone said Nada Surf "Popular" or Dishwalla "Counting Blue Cars" yet? Or Superdrag's "Sucked Out"? Yeah, that's right, I grew up on mid-90s MTV. Buzz Clips 4 LIFE!

Stacy's Mom- Fountains of Wayne

First, I think I have a crush on Angie! Lovin your taste in music with the Possum Kingdom choice, but The Toadies are no one hit wonder. Love me some Toadies. And whoever rocked the Romeo Void - mad props.

A couple of favorites:

Geto Boys...Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangster: Geto Boys - Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta [Explicit] - YouTube

Afroman...Because I got High: Afroman - Because I Got High - YouTube

After that:
Modern English - Melt With You
Sly Fox - Lets Go All the Way
Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe
Fountains of Wayne - Radiation Vibe
Hum - Stars
Molley Hatchet - Dreams I'll Never See
Saga - On the Loose
Seether - Careless Whisper
Aldo Nova - Fantasy
Sherif - When I'm With You

I've been listening to Hell Below/Stars Above at work today. I love some Toadies, too. They had a concert a few years ago in Omaha when they got back together, I kick myself that I missed it.

I forgot about Warren G - "Regulate."

And I freaking love Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark's "If You Leave."

Wait, what?

Hum has a pretty enduring legacy. They're called Deftones.

Really like this song but thanks to Quinten Tarantino all I can think of is Michael Madsen dancing around

(Weak stomachs beware)

I don't know who's worse Tarantino for thinking up such bizarre crap or me for enjoying it.

I one to a hit of Blueberry Sky at a Cypress Hill concert. Thank goodness for Little Debbie
