On That Note : Summer Days (and Summer Nights)

This week we are taking a break from our Gr8s From The 8s series for to celebrate the upcoming season of summer which officially begins next week. So for this thread we are looking for your favorite summer themed songs. We are focusing on that as the theme not songs that happened to be released during the summer time months.

“Summer in the City,” The Lovin’ Spoonful (released July 4, 1966)

One of the first songs that comes to mind when I think of ‘summer song.’ I like how the musical tone changes to demonstrate the mood of the day/night themes between verse & chorus. I don’t know if it was purposely designed that way, or if I’m “hearing too much into it.” But that’s the way I interpret it.

New Kids on the Block has a bunch of hits, Chinese food makes me sick, but I think it’s fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer. I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch, I’ll take her if I have one wish, but she’s been gone since the summer, since the summer.
