Another Tuesday, another On That Note. OTN is brought to you by your hosts @cyclones500, @CycloneRulzzz and myself.

The other day I heard Creedence Clearwater Revival's classic Proud Mary. I suddenly noticed the peculiar way John Fogerty pronounced the word 'burning.' It was more like 'boynin.' That got me thinking about other songs that might have oddly pronounced words within them.

Last week's OTN, The "Best" and "Worst" of Times, is here:

CCR plus another example:

In this version of Till There Was You, Paul's pronunciation of the word 'saw' is two syllables, more like 'saw-were.' Occurs at approximately the :28 mark.

From "Wild Mountain Honey," Steve Miller Band

“You don’t even know about wild mountain honey” — He sings it “A-bout,” with long-A, instead of standard short-A.

It's probably a good tonal choice for the song, but I noticed it the first time I heard it and think about it any time I listen to it. (First occurrence approx 45 sec)

More a case that I (think) it was confusion that the lyric is “she” instead of “send” and it came out “shend.” (not sure if it was John or Paul since they’re doing harmony vocal).

At :54 it’s normal — approx 1:21 it’s “shend” …

I laugh at how he says "cocaine" in this song. "Kohwuh kyn uh" (Cobra Kai ?)

Sticky Fingers "HOW TO FLY" Lyrics:
I put the breaks off and I ride
Whatever takes us to get high
I chase the devil into the sky
Because he's the one who taught me How to Fly
I forget my name Because it's all the same
Cocaine
I forget my name I drink the venom
To release the pain
Chain smoking, I suffocate
We be rebel, the beast untame
Sticky Fingers, don't forget the name

I always thought Elton John pronounced Discard weirdly like Dizzgard in Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm @ 3:19

Elton's songs always seem to have some funny pronunciations. "Hold me closer, Tony Danza". And then on Rocket Man "burning like the fumes of terragon". On Bennie and the Jets "she's got electric boobs".
