For anyone interested in pop music circa 1965, I highly suggest a viewing of the T.A.M.I. Show available on You Tube. I find it to be a moving portrait of the youth of that era.
Also, don't forget to witness the Otis Redding night set at the Monterey Music Fest 1967. It is a meeting of a soul singer, a veteran of the "Chitlin Circuit" performing in front of an audience of psychedelic-consuming, free love youth.

This was a 1990 CMA awards performance by a then up and coming artist, Mary Chapin-Carpenter. The song is called "Opening Act" and it kind of put her on the map in the music world. Both funny and poignant, the song tells of the struggle performers go through when they're starting out in the business.
Live recording. I think she does it better than Zeppelin. Incredible voice and flawless on the rhythm guitar while singing.
