The game against Baylor was the outlier to end all outliers.
The Barttovik chart of their "game scores," zero being the worst and 100 being the best...
That being said, while they started off strong, they have come down to Earth in the Big 12. The game in Norman should be a 50-50 proposition, and the game in Hilton should be something like 80-20 for the good guys. Going 2-0 on them would be real nice.
They are like a mediocre (for the Big 12) version of TTU -- good defense, even borderline a great defense, but they really struggle to find consistent offense sometimes.

The Bears have won 6 of the last 7 (5 point loss to KU) with wins over ISU, Tech, Bama, and at OU.
I'm as surprised as anyone, but right now BU is playing as well as anyone in the league. OU looked horrible last night... no energy, no defense, no clue...
but last year at OU, Sooners beat Baylor by 2. Trey Young had 44. He isn't playing in Norman anymore and it shows...
but this is the same team that beat Vandy by 31 Saturday, so who knows?

Holy Crap - it was in NORMAN ?#@? I saw the espn ticker last night and was surprised, but now hearing it was at OU...I have no words ?? Is BAY a legit threat to win B12? Have to wait to see if KU gets their cheater approved to play. SMH a 30 pt loss at home ?#@?

From what I've seen, their defense extends to create ball pressure, and they gamble from that in passing lanes (while Texas Tech is more fundamentally sound, trying to keep you out of the lane). I don't think that's a good prescription against us.
To be fair, Baylor plays really well in dead arenas, so the Lloyd Noble Center is pretty much a home game for the Bears.

We need to remember that Oklahoma was picked 9 in the preseason polls and are looking to be that team. They played above their weight in the non-con with some nice runs to get ranked but what is often the case they have regressed to the mean and the talent on their roster.
That isn't to take away from a scrappy Baylor squad and what Drew has done a good job getting that team to play together... That said their talent isn't much better than Oklahoma and once they start playing teams a second time they wont have the advantage of the funky zone. I think they fall off to 6-7 in the final standings by the end.

I think Oklahoma should be very concerned. Baylor started 5 guards, with the tallest being 6'7", and Oklahoma was still out rebounded.
WVU beat our dream team (Kane, Ejim, Niang, Morris, Hogue) by 25. That was on the road but basketball can be wild.
That sounds a bit like us, to be honest. And not being critical about that -- a well-timed turnover or two can turn a game, though a 4 v. 5 on defense can also ruin your day.
My comparison was more on relatively efficiency statistics than on style of play. Both are better defensive teams than offensive teams, though they get there different ways, and Texas Tech is just better overall than Oklahoma, which has had some clunkers.

We gamble less than we did in the non-conference though (which can be good and bad). OU's offense seems to really stagnate if you don't give them some runout opportunities.
All of Iowa State's three losses in the conference are to the three teams currently tied for first place...by a total of eight points, two played on the road.
And our other two losses...
-- a bad shooting night on the road against an in-state, out-of-conference rival, who has spent most of the season in the Top 25, who shot the lights out that night

-- Arizona is by far our worst loss right now (even at a neutral site). They're trending downwards in the middle of the weak Pac-12. Then again, it was early in the season, at a neutral site tournament in a holiday location, and we were down two key rotational players.
(By the way, we were down Lindell and Cam for that game, too. Lindell had 24 on "them" the year before -- they struggle against uber-athletic guards like him.)
We do not really have a "bad" -- like truly bad -- performance on our record this season. We have a few that were frustrating, but we have yet to go out and lay an egg.

Oklahoma is somewhat like Iowa. Early wins that looked good at the time that aren't as impressive as the year's gone on. They had what appeared to be a nice stretch beating Notre Dame, Wichita State, USC, Creighton and Northwestern, all of which currently are not tournament teams. As I look at it, I think TCU may be their only win so far over a tournament team, and maybe some mid-major that wins their league.
