Okie St 1/26

All in all a solid showing taking 4/10 matches, bonus points obviously in favor of OSU.

125 - came out aggressive, Spratley just on a different level.

133 - said it earlier but that’s a tricky match up. Wittcraft has been out awhile and they really wanted that match. Frost a grinder and got it done against a 5th (maybe 6th?) year guy.

141 - JFrost is really making this Echemendia situation tricky. He’s clearly got AA potential and that was a match of handfighting and toughness.

149 - Paniro had potential for another TD to separate but it’s good to see him win close matches that he lost a few or two years ago. Still think he has huge potential if he puts it all together. Solid W.

157 - hard fought by both guys. Same talking heads that will say takedown are the same clowns crying reaction time in the Iowa dual last season. Solid W for Chittum.

165 - tough loss but I actually like the direction Riggins is heading. I think he is a potential auto-bid stealer come Big 12’s.

174 - Hamiti is about as bad of a match up as MJ could have. Just really didn’t have anything for him.

184 - see above. Bockman will struggle with the top 4 or 5 guys but I still am convinced he can be a low AA.

197 - tough situation. Battled hard but obvious fear for yet another knee injury to this team for a guy we may desperately need next season.

285 - Hendrickson did what he does to everyone not named Steveson or Kerkvliet.

Overall decent showing and good to get more wins than expected.

I’d take both O’Toole and Haines over Hamiti.

Hamiti has always destroyed guys he should and gets handled by the top couple of guys.
Taylor seems to have unlocked another level in Hamiti. Plus being up a weight and not cutting as much he has more energy. Taylor also knows Haines better than anyone and will have a game plan. If O’Toole isn’t healthy, I also think Hamiti wins it in Philly

The reality is we are pretty darn good from 157 on down but with Younger out we aren’t very good 165 through HWT.
Bockman is a good 184. He’s a top 12-15 guy, just outmatched by a top 3 kid and NCAA finalist from a year ago. Bockman can still go with anyone outside of the top tier. I still think Herrera is a top 25ish hwt which is really good as a true freshman when he was supposed to be redshirting. I’m not discounting Gaitans win on Friday based off today’s results. Hamiti is just really really good. I think MJ will be in Philly and can compete with anyone outside of the top 4-5 guys. 165 and 197 are weaker weights, but Riggins has looked better at 165 than he did at 174

Yep, too many holes. Really like euton, riggins has been a little better at 65, but sucks we are getting nothing from rojas. 74 is just strange to me, how was gaittan not the best option at 65 when he cut there? Then he goes back up and has taken a step back from last year. 84 I like bockman. 97 another head scratcher. Hwt I like how he's wrestling it is what it is. Anyway a disappointing year, but the last two duals we have been wrestling better in a style that is at least fun to watch.

Gaitan hasn’t really been healthy all year. Friday was the healthiest he’s been and he knocked off a top 10 guy. Hamiti is just at another level. I think Gaitan will be fine

Perryman gets first 2 tds but is totally overnatched and gives up a major.
Frost gives up first td against a funky wittcraft, but gets a td and backs to win.
J frost wrestles Jamison 1 to 1 into OT and gets a td for a decision win.
Paniro gets one td and the win. He was in on another deep single but didn't finish.
Chittum in a really funky match gets the only td and a win.
Riggins gets beat soundly and majored.

We looked pretty good overall, but we're overmatched at 25 and 65 on up.

Riggins didn’t get majored

Because Euton is better than him at 165. Gaitan is limited especially from an athletic standpoint. Nothing against him but hopefully 174 is one of the weights we bring in better talent.

I think he said on Friday that in HS, he never had to shoot. He is very limited offensively to scrambling, and that won’t work against the top tier.

Said St John was working with him on different way to finish his single leg and said he is working on the details . Old habits are hard to break . Liked his effort.
