NFL: Offseason Thread

Jets going QB. Colts might be able to get the guy they wanted at six, or they might not be done moving down if another QB falls to that sixth pick. Love it for Indy provided that Ballard hits on those newly acquired picks.

Detroit cutting bait on Eric Ebron. He was decent for them last year but he never lived up to the hype as a top ten pick.

He'll make some good money on the open market. He had too many drops early in his career but was coming around finally at the end of last season.

It will be interesting to see who picks him up.

The Colts got him on a two year deal worth up to 15 mil. Pretty good value for Indy.

That's a win for the Colts. He'll be an upgrade from a talent stand point and I think the Colts have been searching for that great TE for Luck.

They already have a pretty good all-around TE with Jack Doyle, but he's more of a security blanket for the QB. Ebron, at his best, can stretch the field a bit and give them a big play threat and red zone target.

I haven't seen details on the contract yet, but I'm guessing any fully guaranteed money is for 2018 and the deal is loaded with a bunch of incentives so there's no real commitment beyond this season for either side. Ebron gets a chance to prove himself and cash in next season, and the Colts get a high-upside former top ten pick on the cheap.

Yeah, I know Doyle is solid if not spectacular. Colts run a lot of 2 TE stuff don't they? This will give them a lot more threats in those sets.

They have in the past. I don't know if they will going forward, but with Frank Reich coming over from the Eagles I would guess the scheme will be similar. I didn't watch a ton of Eagles football last season but just from what I saw in the playoffs they used multiple TE sets fairly often.

Steelers signed FA Safety Morgan Burnett. Big signing and fills a huge need for the Steelers.

They also just signed Bostic at ILB who may not be a star, but helps fill a hole there.

Steelers now have a little more flexibility in the draft at pick 28 if ILB and S don't fall to them or some other huge value falls to them.

Decent low cost options in the second wave of free agency. Bostic is solid against the run but he can't drop in coverage for ****. Nice depth addition but I still expect the Steelers to address the ILB spot in the draft.

Burnett could be a nice get if he can stay healthy. Doesn't he have a fairly lengthy concussion history or am I thinking of someone else who used to play for Green Bay?

Nope, not Burnett. You're thinking of Sam Shields, who is trying to resurrect his career with the Rams.
