*** Official Xavier vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

A win would be awesome. I'd still feel okay about a close loss. Just don't get blown out -- as long as the defense travels, I don't think that will be a problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ohio State was minus their best player for that one, not to mention have not looked impressive even with him so far

Looks like they have some good size and outside shooting. After last game feels like we have a lot of growth opportunity. Honestly feels too soon for this. If we can take a leap we might be able to hang in there. We need some of the bigs and our guards to have a good game and learn to mesh. Again, feels too early

Pretty early to expect TJ's first team to win vs #25 Xavier but I do have a lot more optimism this will be a close game tonight after seeing the first 4 games. It is obvious the team buys into TJ mantra and they are improving/getting more comfortable with roles each time out. As long as I see more progress vs the step up in competition these next two games against better competition regardless I consider it a win regardless of the final score.
That said....
Let's Go State!!! beat X..

You are correct.....and Xavier beat Niagara by only 3. They are a good team, but in no danger of being confused for Duke and I think the guys can get this one tonight.

I think we go down by double digits but it'll be one of those games closer than it appears. We hang with them until the under 2 minute mark and have to start fouling. Tough play for the whole game
 
Rewatching the Grambling game this morning and I know they won't normally shoot this well from 3, but the ball movement during the long 1st half run is impressive. I'm excited for the test tonight.

We might not, honestly it's still very early and these guys really haven't played together much. I see this team continuing to improve as Kunc becomes more healthy and they get experience on the floor together.

I can't wait to see how we fare tonight. But I am predicting a loss that where we really aren't that close but also not getting blown out.

I watched Xavier vs Ohio State and this is going to be a real tough game. I expect Xavier to dominate the boards and win by 10, but the game will be close with the relentless effort they have on defense.
 
Drat - ESPNU! I stream all the ESPN+ games but I can't get ESPNU or ESPNNews games. Guess it's following via Gamecast and this game thread for me.
