I think we all want to win each game but comparing 3 games in 7 days (USA) to one win or go home (Italy) takes different strategies. Especially when game one is at 7200 FT above sea level and game two is 3 days later for the US. Italy had to win today to advance, we could draw or tie today and still make it in on Sunday which is no matter what basically a must win.
It’s kind of the same. Italy failed to make it out of their group so they had to do the qualification tournament. If we don’t get top 3 we’re stuck in a play in game against New Zealand. We have never won at Mexico in World Cup qualifying and we have never won at Costa Rica. Those two fixtures are in this window. We need 4 points.

Absolutely, the Panama game is our best chance to get 3 of 4 of those points. If we get 3 were pretty much guaranteed that one off against NZ. It's just tough to be 100% right after playing Mexico at Azteca.

Lineup is posted and looks like the A team. Will see if it pays off.

I'd be ecstatic to somehow get a draw out of tonight.

This might be the last time we really sweat qualifying with hosting in 2026 and then expanding the field after.

i never understood why the altitude is such a factor at Azteca. It’s not like the MNT players all live/play at that altitude all of the time. they play all over Mexico and the world.

It’s a huge factor especially when it super hot there. Lucky it’s only about 70 degrees and there’s no sun for this game. The air is so thin nearly 2 miles above sea level.

Right I get the challenges, but my assertion is that it shouldn’t help Mexico any more than it hurts them. Except for maybe a few guys that play there for their clubs.
