Chris Richards is going back to Hoffenheim on a season long loan. Great move for him, IMO. Young CBs need minutes and reps and he should get them there especially since Hoffenheim is already familiar with him and obviously wanted him back.

Matthew Hoppe is also headed to a new club, but permanently. Schalke sold him to newly promoted Mallorca in La Liga. Not a bad place to go live and play football for a young guy.

Well suck. I'm less concerned about him for this game than having him for future ones. Didn't say how long he will have to quarantine.

I don’t think quarantine is the issue as much as it’s just general fitness. His positive test came quite a few days ago in England; he missed Chelsea’s match last weekend due to quarantine protocols. I would assume if he was still in the middle of quarantine there’s no way he even would have left England much less have trained with the team on Monday.

I wonder if the US will also leave behind any of the other players who won’t be on the Gameday 23. It might be a smart way to not subject some of your depth guys to unnecessary travel.

Mallorca seems like the polar opposite of "focus town." Can't imagine I'd be doing a lot of professional development in that environment. Have fun, young man.

How are we feeling about tonight? Obviously should be a win, but after 2017 away games against Central American countries scare the hell out of me

Anything 5 points or over would be great for this window and a win would probably put us on pace for 6 or 7 in reality. Taking all 9 in this window would be incredible with the travel and away games. Win at Estadio Cuscatlan and anything is possible.

I'm really curious what the atmosphere will be like. I've watched a bunch of the 2009 game footage that's going around and it had a crazy atmosphere then. El Salvador is requiring vaccination and masks for everyone in the stadium. I wonder what the vibe will be with all of that.

There’s a 50% chance of rain, but the high is only 81 in San Salvador today so at least we won’t have to be dealing with super extreme tropical conditions tonight.

I’m just crazy excited for tonight. Even if we play like crap and don’t get anything out of this match, it’s not the end of the world. I’m just so happy to see these young guys play in matches with something on the line.

I think it’s safe to say Weston McKennie is not cut out for life as a monk.

Seriously dude, how horny are you that you can’t keep it together for a few days? Two violations, one night spent away from the team hotel and one unauthorized visitor to your hotel room.

Jordi Pefok with the game winner for Young Boys against Man Utd today in the CL group stage opener. Lovely assist by Lingard on the goal.

If you haven’t read this article, I highly recommend it. It’s a great profile of Ricardo Pepi, his family, and the issues of identity for dual national players.

"During this long, scorching summer, the United States beat Mexico twice in the final of two different tournaments.

Ruiz says that hurt. He says if Ricardo ever scores against Mexico, that'll hurt too."

Not if. When. And I can't wait.
