Christian Pulisic will be match ready vs Man City this weekend, Berhalter and other reps told Chelsea that they'd much rather have him stay over there to recover.

Tyler Adams is close to rejoining full practice

Tim Weah has been rehabbing his injury in Madrid too.

Miami FC has bought the folded Ottawa Fury's licensing fee and will be playing in the USL Championship next year.

Surprising announcement, dunno what this means for their antitrust lawsuit

McKennie has a shoulder injury again. Took a hard spill it seems this weekend

Dest scored for Ajax over the weekend in the Erediviste.

Also the US Open Cup will be starting in March this year, there's controversy with some NPSL and USLL2 teams relying heavily on college players. The first round is set to include USLL1/NISL teams in the first round as well, I think Menace will still be playing in the USOC, they don't rely on a strictly college team that much. (The City Council approved the stadium but I think it has to go through a couple more hoops before being likely)

whose leg does Duane Holmes have to hump to get called in? Guy is playing awesome right now. January camp is a waste, but he should be called in come March. IF Reyna can turn into a competent ACM then you can kind of squint and see 2022 not being a dumpster fire. Puts Pulisic outside where he belongs.

Steffen
Dest Miazga Brooks Yedlin
McKennie Adams Reyna
Morris Pulisic
Sargent

with a bench of Holmes, Pomykal, name a random center back, Antonne Robinson, hopefully another striker that isn't Zardes, and Letgett.

Problem with that lineup is 1) There isn't enough MLS for the USSF liking and 2) would require Berhalter to use Dest on the left side and not make Adams a RB.

Brian McBride stepping in as General Manager of USMNT!

Up front I think this is a good deal. He does not have a ton of experience in this type of role but maybe that is a good thing with this team right now. Lots of new ideas is my hope.

https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/01/13/brian-mcbride-usmnt-gm-us-soccer-stewart-berhalter

This is from the article, "He'll be in Berhalter's ear as his superior, and while he said he won't get involved in player selection or running practices, he said he would step in if he saw something that was a concern. When asked if he'd prompt Berhalter to simplify a tactical plan or alter a strategy that was not appearing to work, he said that was within his purview."

A couple of debuts this weekend for US teenagers. Gio Reyna was subbed on for Dortmund and Indiana Vassilev made his Premier League debut for Aston Villa this weekend as a sub as well.

Rumors are running hot that Antoinee Robinson is set to move to AC Milan.

Not. ****ing. you.

Also Konrad De La Fuente is at odds with Barca over a new contract to the point where they may park him for the rest of the season which is when his contract runs out. He wants to go to Bundesliga.

So Robinson was in Milan doing the physical it seems and the whole thing fell through or something. There was a lot of miscommunication on it or whatever, he's still at Wigan.

Paul Arrirola has reportedly torn his ACL in training camp for DC United

Has anyone else seen the banger Gio Reyna scored in the DFB Pokal?

So something Carlos Cordiero said something really, really, really dumb in court filings in the Equal Pay USWNT lawsuit and so he resigned.

Cindy Cone who was just elected as VP is now President of the USSF until 2021 but it wouldn't surprise me if they do a special election, Coronavirus withstanding.

EDIT: The Coronavirus has stopped everything, so this ended up in the Lead on ESPN and Sportscenter. Wow.

US Soccer is replaying some classic US matches as part of their Stay at Home campaign. If you’re bored, they are currently streaming the US v Costa Rica match from qualifying for the 2010 World Cup on YouTube. Seeing Stu Holden running around in a US shirt is a little bittersweet. It sure would have been great to see his career develop without all the knee injuries. And yes, Bornstein is starting at left back.

Maven, Sports Illustrated's parent company, has fired Grant Wahl over recent comments about Maven's management. Maven has gone on the defensive claiming he wouldn't take a pay cut, etc.

He's going to land on his feet undoubtedly, my guess at probably The Athletic and/or ESPN (he doesn't work for Fox Sports anymore either but for different reasons)

The DA is folding, MLS and USL are forming their own academy leagues, some of the youth only teams are going over to the ECNL, yes there's a Boys version. COVID hastened this but it seemed likely that it was headed to this.

Also some staff have been furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
