If nothing else good comes from this match, I will be happy that it looks like Tyler Boyd may have staked his territory as that wide, right attacker. I'm a Sounders fan and have zero desire to see Jordan Morris playing out there.

It's not going to happen, but Tyler Adams needs to be our #6. Leave Lima at RB, he's looked perfectly functional there and put Adams in his natural spot. It's where plays for Leipzig, and he's so much more mobile in that spot than either Bradley or Trapp. Hell, Leipzig's Twitter account made a trollish comment congratulating Adams on getting named to the Gold Cup squad as a RB.

I don't understand the philosophy of playing people out of position when they don't have much time to prepare for it. Maybe one player if they are a vet and know how to do it, but not 3 relatively youngish ones at the same time.

I’m not concerned about this crap but when the Gold Cup starts it’s time to stop ******* around and put whatever plan GB has in place and stuck to it through qualifying. The Gold Cup is the cut off point for me.

Be worried everyone...this article scares me. There is a little line about Bradley almost making it sounds like he is what the US needs. If that is the case, fold up the whole program. US is NOT in a good spot right now and if you've watched them the last couple of years it is really hard to disagree with the author!

I mean...all that aside...we just don’t have very many good players so yes everyone should be worried about qualifying for 2022.

I can’t believe the failure of US players to go abroad and be actual solid pieces for teams in the top leagues outside of Dempsey and Pulisic. I couldn’t have imagined this after ‘02, ‘06, ‘10. We had more guys playing at top levels back in ‘94. John freaking Harkes was more established in Europe than 98% of anyone that has come since him.

MLS has ****** things up big time in that regard and we have to wait for another generation of kids to see if they can make something happen. I’m longing for the days of Landon Donavan. Yuck.

Why is the talent like this then? Again I'm not here to dog on the team. I honestly want them to be good so it can be something my son and I share in the summer months.

Christian Pulisic: grew up in a European system. Properly brought up through the youths and in to the first team at a club that values youth and development in one of the best leagues in the world.

Large group of players: grow up in mls acadamies then go on to the mls team and play against poor competition with poor coaching and sit behind aging former stars that don’t give a **** about anything except living in LA and getting their check that is 100X bigger than everyone elses. May eventually go to a Championship side in England that has no goal other than making it to the top flight and can’t afford to lose any points so there is no emphasis on development.

Some other players: grow up in US club system and then eventually go back to Mexico and play against poor competition and get poor coaching with the goal of coming to MLS on a non minimum contract.

Small group of players: have name recognition young and then go to a giant club like psg or Barca as a kid and get lost in the shuffle and then progressively make their way around Europe to lesser and lesser leagues not getting any development or solidifying a place at a club.

On top of all this is the real problem of MLS and the fed working in unison to underhandedly get preference for MLS based players getting in to the NT which really stymies players from taking a chance and going to a good developmental club in Germany or France or any number of countries that value development and youth. As long as the easiest path to the NT is through MLS and MLS continues to be what it is then we will not be good.

End rant.

@Gunnerclone had a good response, I'll argue, additionally, that the pay to play model in the US is not good for the sport. By pay to play I mean the soccer clubs that litter the Des Moines metro. People pay $1,500 - $2,000 for their child to play a single soccer season. Yes you get pro coaching (certified and paid coaches) and is great for those that can AFFORD it. Think of the hundreds of kids just in the Des Moines area this cuts out purely because of money. Soccer is a cheap sport! (In theory) Something needs to be done to cover the hundreds of kids in the Des Moines metro AND the millions of kids around the country to build up US soccer.

There are so many lawsuits against the USSF right now, one of them has to be the one that breaks the monkey's back so we're suspended for a year and fail to qualify by default right?

I hoping that happens because if we fail to qualify I think it's going to get really really ugly on the soccer scene
